Rigalo Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Supposed to see this with my niece and nephew tonight as long as a big storm doesn’t blow through. Not really bother med by the reviews like… it’s a children’s movie… but of course we’ll see how it goes!

BoyLikeYouSuxx Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I knew there was no way it was THAT bad critics are such prudes these days
BNF91 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Opening day is looking pretty insane, especially for a Wednesday. Might go past $30-31M. That could put a $140-150M domestic 5-day debut in play.
Desire Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Why would y'all rely on what critics say for a movie like this This will probably do really well in the box office because it's the only "kids movie" that will be out in theaters
SuperCiC1 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 now we have to ask why sonic works better as a comic, tv show, and movie than mario (or any other nintendo ip)?
Gorjesspazze9 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 30 year old critics going into a Movie for 8 year olds and VideoGame Nerds The picture of them writing on a Notepad about character development is just funny. I’m sure it’s as bland as they say, but yeah makes sense fans just want thier easter eggs and something for thier kids to watch. It ain’t that deep.
dabunique Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 u think us Mario stans give a phuck about da critics, we will watch it and multiple times i'm here for legend Anya playin my legend Peach

poki Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Audience Score is biased as hell. Remember when Captain Marvel was JUMPED because it was Brie?
_Fey Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) Also, for people going "lol it's a kids movie, why would critics like it" - are these not kids movies? https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/puss_in_boots_the_last_wish Puss In Boots (2022) - 95% https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_lego_movie The Lego Movie - 96% https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_lego_batman_movie The Lego Batman Movie - 90% https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/spider_man_into_the_spider_verse Into The Spider-Verse - 97% Hell, even other movies by the same studio: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/minions_the_rise_of_gru Minions The Rise of Gru - 70% https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_secret_life_of_pets Secret Life of Pets - 72% https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sing_2 Sing 2 - 72% I purposely left Disney movies out so no one could say critics are biased towards them. As someone mentioned yesterday, Mario is tracking to be the 2nd or 3rd lowest reviewed movie ever on both RT and MC for this studio - a studio that is already infamous online for making movies with mediocre reception. Kylizzle Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The biggest mistake story-wise was making this the origin story of Mario. Does anyone really care about Mario's origins and family The fact they told a better story in Super Mario Galaxy and should've just adapted that
jjmed59 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 As a huge nintendo fan, this was such a TREAT to watch. yes, simple plot but jesus the fan service here is wild. so many easter eggs, my eyes didnt know where to go. the soundtrack made me emotional at times. nostalgia at its absolute best. people trying to drag it w/ “ofc superfans will like it” like thats not all that it needs to do. its already on track to beat minions opening weekend and will have an enormous 127m 5- day weekend. any casual mario fan will really enjoy it. its a blockbuster smasha i fear!
samybertoni Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I went today and I loved it! It’s definitely for the fans though, but who doesn’t know Mario anyway?
Roberto Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 This was good. The visuals and music were the highlights, but it's a really good time for Mario fans, I can assure that. It wasn't bad, tbh. At times, it felt kinda rushed but I guess that's because it's a kids movie. Don't think there was some intention to make a deep cut ala Coco or something like that. Spoiler Bowser singing and the little existentialist blue star tho. What the **** was that?
Eternium Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 The reviews are definitely disappointing, but I’m not going to let them deter me. I’ve been so excited for this and can’t wait to see it on Saturday
Memoirs387 Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Just got back from this and…. I kind of loved it. It was basically exactly what I was expecting and had a blast. I had so much fun, thought it was great and it looked amazing.
BoyLikeYouSuxx Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Just finished watching and it was actually really enjoyable. Amazing visuals and so many fan service moments!! I wish they would've paced some moments better and had a more orchestral rendition of some of the songs. But this had so much heart and genuine moments I’ll look past the few minor flaws Spoiler Hoping the sequel delivers an amazing team up like the third act did in this one! Yoshi, daisy, ms. Rosalina where are you
