the fact that all of her albums for 20 years were certified at least platinum:clap3: I'm just waiting for debut and emancipation to be eventually certified diamond.

I still find it odd that debut hasn't been able to sell a million copies in 23 years (last certified 1999), I would think that with streaming, sales during the digital era, and all the vinyl and CD releases would've pushed it close to diamond

7 consecutive studio abums in 12 years. I'm not gonna post the certifications because she's undercertified (Circus is only certified Platinum for example).

I don’t think RIAA is doing that anymore. If they are, it will only count the 2X Platinum for the physical sales; not the SPS. So Red TV will have to sell 1M pure.

Sweetie, it sold ~ 700k pure and 1.1 million SEA units.

RIAA units will be 0.7*2+1.1 = 2.5 million units.

Ok, and I’m telling you that’s not how RIAA certs ever worked :dies: :deadbanana4:

RIAA never just doubled the units for every double album i.e. a double album wouldn’t be certified Platinum if it sold 500K. If it sold 1M it would be certified 2X Platinum. You had to cross the threshold of Platinum to be doubled.

In the SPS era, I haven’t seen any application of RIAA’s double album rule. Probably because there hasn’t been a double album that has sold 1M since it began. I highly doubt RIAA will make a synthesis of an old rule for double album with the SPS method. We will see with Red TV since it’s probably the only album with a chance of crossing 1M pure.

TLDR: you misunderstood the original rule and it’s probably a moot point anyway in the SPS era.

Oh, i'm sorry. I didn't know this rule.

Anyways, RED TV is at 1.81 million units, it'll get to 2 million units soon.
