Jay L Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Well she is doing more than fine after, but I don't think releasing it as a lead single did anything positive for her career. One of her worst songs tbh
UnusualBoy Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 It was a terrible single choice, especially for a lead.
State of Grace. Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 It's one of the best songs ever made so Beautiful OP btw

Abracadabra Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Gaga has never been a trend-chasing type of artist, so the idea of her releasing a tropical-pop song or a Selena Gomez collab as a lead single was never realistic. Perfect Illusion was a very bold choice for a lead single and a "comeback" song of sorts, it's a very polarising song that people either love or hate. While some of her single choices haven't always followed the mold which hasn't always benefited her on the charts or radio, it has benefited her career overall as it's helped to establish her as an artist in her own lane who's career isn't dependent on what is trendy at any given time. A lot of other artists had more radio hits, but their careers ended up not having the longevity of Gaga's because she made artistic choices that gave her more creative freedom and respect from the public and the industry.
Iyanla, Fix Me Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 I loved it then I love it now. Was it the most commercially planned single? Of course not but I don’t think it needed to be. Joanne as a whole was a boring album but aye it lead to second peak so it obviously served it’s purpose.
Karla Cabello Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 perfect illusion is a good song and aged well, but almost all of the album is horrible. she should have worked with kevin for all the album instead of mark
Erreur2 La Nature Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons and Stupid Love are the weirdest decisions of her career. These songs are atrocious and shoudl have never been released in the first place.
MadMax12 Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 (edited) It was stupid. It’s the worst song on the album. It’s like either she deliberately wanted to flop, or whoever chose it stitched her up. I think the latter is more likely given the lack of promo, terrible and lack of music videos. The singles should have been Dancin in Circles, Million Reasons, Diamond Heart, Sinners Prayer and Angel Down. The era would have sold x10 what it did. I thought she would actually get her s*** together after artpop but she just proved she doesn’t care anymore Edited September 22, 2022 by MadMax12
Komet Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Both, it's a great song but a terrible lead.
