Snoopy Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 I haven't really liked a new Shania song in ages but this one is very cute
allforyou Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 I love this I agree that it has that "Shania" feel to it that was missing from Now (even though I really like that album). The music video is great too, I love all the different looks (especially the red hair one, that outfit reminds me of the I'm Gonna Getcha Good one). 7 hours ago, ahauntingnearu said: Is there anyone else who just can't handle how her voice sounds now? I was a huge fan growing up and still love the old albums, but I genuinely can't listen to the latest stuff without cringing and it makes me so sad. It's sad what happened to her voice but I think fans just have to accept that it's never gonna sound the same again. Sure her "old" voice was better however her "new" voice is still good and has its charms too, her rasp sounds fantastic in certain parts. At this point I'm just grateful that she still releases music (that is actually good), she could’ve retired a long time ago if she wanted to.

Yea and I definitely accepted it, but it's just hard to listen to lol this new one is better, as people have said; but it still sounds like an entirely different singer to me and just ... weird? Idk Def a bop tho
BraveNewSeth Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 …yeah, I’ll always stan Shania because of the three diamond albums, but I think it’s safe to say we (or I at least) can write off any new material she releases. It’s just missing that certain charm her older material has. This is cute but it doesn’t sound like something SHANIA TWAIN would’ve released while she was with Mutt.

It’s literally not any different besides the layering of backing vocals he does.
gagacasanova Posted September 23, 2022 Author Posted September 23, 2022 Oh wow, so her and Taylor are label mates now never thought she'd ever ditch Mercury Records, she's been with them since album 1. But OT, this is a pretty fun track. It's trademark Shania mixed with her most recent sounds. The video is pretty cute, the green sequin outfit with the red weave gives me I'm Gonna Getcha Good vibes
xXavril Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 This is definitely the best thing she’s released in years!! Not a super huge fan of the verses, but the pre chorus with the Woahs and the chorus are both an ear worm. I’m glad she went more towards her signature sound, Now felt like it was trying too hard to be modern, this feels more like classic her
Sanctuary Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 The red hair look in the video is everything This is pretty solid. I admit that I had to listen to it more than once just to get used to her new voice. Excited for the album.

If this song was in her “old” voice it would be even better, but life happens. I’m still bopping. @Reverse Warholian Now is shaking!
Lazuli Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 It's a cute bop and she looks good. Regarding her voice... yeah I understand it'll never be the same again but sometimes I feel very fatigued listening to it

Maxi Underdog Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 This song makes me dance all day <3 This is pure joy <3
Polgg48 Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 the struggle to keep riding the beat and off, otherwise call this experimental pop for her. so happy she is having fun on this track

I mean yes, part of it is definitely her vocal chord issues that she's struggled with since she caught Lyme disease, but people also need to realize that voices age along with the rest of your body when you go from mid 30s to mid/late 50s. I think it wouldn't be so shocking to people had she not taken so much time to release Now.

I just don't like the sound or 'noise' of it anymore I guess But that's def a me problem, and she obvs can't help it.

I never got her insecurity with her voice like 10 years ago, I think she sounded great on Endless Love and Today Is Your Day. In other news, she's been doing a lot of press for this song!

GiftFromGod Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 They better push this to at least AC/HAC. It could do decent in those two formats.
