It was pretty good but very very Americanised version of Australia. The forced slang was :rip:

literally all of gen z in australia uses majorly american slang. gen z was raised on the internet, mainly consuming american media so the language reflects that.

All Australian teens are slim, well groomed and attractive.

Australian high school settings freak me out because I hated those years. What if it resonates a little too much :biblio:

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I haven't finished it but it's great so far. It also does feel Australian to me.

Inside the school, they mostly spend time in a sex-ed class. The show is actually set outside the school more often than not, lol.

This feels very Australian to me. Makes me kinda want to move to Aus tbh, so many fine men of all color and races :jonny5:

Loving the dynamic of the characters tbh, even the ones that are dislikeable have a sense of reason to them, like if you knew what happened to them you'd actually know why they did X and Y.

Loving Malakai's character arc and I am SOOO invested in how they flipped his 2nd romantic lead role into something so much more:

Spoiler

Going from the 2nd love interest to having a bisexual crisis with the 1st male lead is such a unique take tbh I never would've thought of that!

He went from being rivals with Dusty in a way for Amerie's heart to all of a sudden now having weird conflicted sexual feelings for Dusty lmfaooo

The thing with Harper, while I hate her for what she did esp w Dusty and Malakai I can definitely see why she did all of that and more when the twist gets revealed about what went down with her and Amerie. She was so vile for like the middle of the season then all of a sudden, while I do not agree w her actions, it made so much sense especially if she was severely traumatized from it.

Cash's sapio/asexuality contrasting Darren's very open mindedness is very interesting. Very cute couple!!!

This was such a surprise! Very enjoyable, great Aussie show - loved Cash & Darren the most.

The one liners in the show are so iconic :ahh:

This show does a really good job and showing true Australian diversity. This is what schools are like, it’s a cultural mix.

I also really like how they acknowledge that kids in Australian schools are really easy going with sexuality (for the most part). I do think Series 2 if greenlit, will see Ca$h get bullied for his sexuality and will cause him to pull back from Darren. There are people who are homophobic of course, and we shouldn’t shy away from the struggles, but generally people treat it quite normal and I’m glad the show reflects that.

It’s interesting this show avoids a lot of cliches without making you feel it’s trying too hard to do it. Because reality is school in real life doesn’t really follow the cliches so it feels believable.

idk, my friend from australia says it's pretty white and racist

Been trying to get into this all week but it's SOOOOO slow paced between the first two episodes. Some shows really need to be condensed to thirty minutes so there's more urgency.

this doesn't feel like australia at all aside from the accents, all the actors went to school here how can they pretend this is what it is like :deadbanana2: I mean the decision to not have school uniforms alone completely derails the realism, no australian school looks like this with all the coloured hair and quirky fashion

I appreciate the indigenous rep & the diversity of the cast. but it still feels so americanised to me.

Hooooly **** this ate :deadbanana4: they got my casual interest by the 3rd episode but the way everything escalated by the end.

I was getting frustrated by Amerie and Harper but the way they wrapped up their arcs definitely made me appreciate them both as characters.

Darren and Cash’s storyline :jonny2: Malakai :jonny2:  absolutely devoured, really hope they get another season
