The entire book series is about children who mature into young adults. Like is this the reaction adults had to Harry Potter movies at first? For context the people who are adults that are interested in Percy Jackson are people who grew up on the books and have been waiting for a live action of the reboot since the awful movies. Even when the casting was announced that Annabeth is being played by an amazing black actress, the normal "anti-woke" vitriol was much quieter and died way faster than The Little Mermaid which is something people are actually actively harassing/bullying/etc. right now. I am doubtful anyone in the PJO fandom would be bullying kids as that's never happened even with the movies being terrible. People are just excited about a phenomenal series that raised them coming to life on the big screen, I don't think being an adult means you can't be excited about something that was apart of your childhood and/or adolescence (and adulthood for people still engrossed in the fandom online). Right now is about the first series, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do the follow up series since Percy and Annabeth are VERY involved in that as well and it raises the scale/scope of the world.
