crf13 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Deserves to be diamond, but I’m happy he finally updated the certs. Would love for him to update his whole discography. I’m curious to see where 8701 updated stats the most.
Price88 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Great album! I think it was the best of all that he released. My picks would be: 1) my way-the best of all his albums. He brought r&b/hip hop to another level By making it a top genre and eye candy. You make me wanna… was his longest running single spending 47 weeks on the chart. Nice & slow became his first number 1. My way tied his lead at number 2. Being his only album to have all singles land the top and runner up spots. It also had excellent album cuts such as the soothing bedtime and the fire collab he did with lil kim just like me. And who can forget the incredible ballad with Monica, slow jam? It was also on the soul food soundtrack. It was by far one of the best albums by a male artist in the 90s. 2) confessions-his biggest album of all time. This earned him his legendary status with him earning a diamond certification and dropping four number 1 singles back to back. Caught up became his first since his debut to not peak within the top 5, but it still went top 10 and was a massive hit. Yeah became his biggest single of all time. 3) 8701-good follow up, despite his first lead single being a flop (pop ya collar). He went back and worked on it and brought out the banger that was u remind me. He went number 1 again with his biggest song at the time, u got it bad. And followed it up with another top 5 and his second album to do so with u don’t have to call. 4) Raymond vs Raymond-it catapulted him into the dance pop craze that went on from 2009-early 2012. Most of the songs were great such as omg, lil freak, dj got us, more, hot tottie, and there goes my baby. 5) here I stand-bad follow up to confessions. Litc was a great lead. But the rest was rather boring. 6) looking 4 myself-basically it was r vs r pt. 2 with a couple stand outs like numb and climax. 7) hard 2 love-not a good album at all
