Idk where you are from but maybe check your local government for their failings before anyone else. Elizabeth has never really had a say in politics anyway. She is a symbol. To some, she represents the bad things about the British Empire, regardless of her own personal lack of a role in them (she was born after the Empire was established and it actually dissolved under her reign).

I mean, shes had a life of constant servitude that she hasnt chosen. If you asked me whether I'd rather be myself or the Queen, I'd pick myself Tons of privilege and fortune, yes but I think there are plenty of rich kids and celebrities who get off easier and have more freedom then her. I'm not sad because she's lived a long life but I don't get any vitriol towards her, she's just a puppet/figure head that had it thrust upon her without any real power. UnusualBoy Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Very tacky comments but I suppose things are really serious so the end must be near.
Daydream Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 1 minute ago, Protocol said: It's obviously serious They've NEVER released a statement like this and had the whole family fly there on short notice. At this point it would be weird if she DOESN'T die. Why go through all this if it wasn't imminent. It's not good for the Crown's image to have constant false alarms of her dying to this level. Exactly, everybody will end up looking like Boo Boo the Fool. So the death is pretty much confirmed.

This is just history, so of course there'll be mass hysteria. it's just funny to me how ATRLers will pretend to be woke and all about social justice and stuff like BLM - well guess what, you can't be against racism and imperialism and support the British monarchy at the same time. the institution is the very antithesis of justice and inequality, and Elizabeth exploited it her whole life. so I'm struggling to feel sorry for her no matter how hard the media are trying to portray her as this harmless old lady who "works hard". I will never forget when she had the nerve to sit down on her golden chair and told British people austerity is necessary while they were killing themselves because they couldn't afford bills/feeding their family. she's no better than Musk, Bezos, and other rich people y'all love to crap on.
Sergi91 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Everyone reporting the D word except the BBC… reminds me of CNN during the 2016 election night when the winner was obvious but they kept circling around the unfortunate truth

Yeah, for better or worse she's been just there. The colonizing happened before her time.
Cleanromantic Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Diana deserved to be Queen, I can't believe that conniving chainsmoker Camilla and the creepy sniveling cheater Charles are going to be the new monarchs .
itsjem Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 People in here acting as if "democracies" around the world are better than the British monarchy. I do think it's an obsolete way of government, but the U.K. has been far more flourishing and socially evolving than most western "democracies" that flaunt that name.
kelli101 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Really not ready to have Charles’ fugly face on my currency anytime soon. Pull through Lizzie
AlanRickman1946 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 fraser @iNabber69 the horrifying realization that the queen is going to be reincarnated as trisha paytas' baby
illia Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 the Queen is going to be reincarnated as Trish's baby
byzantium Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I don't wish anyone ill-health, but I will have a hard time caring about the hyper privileged nobility of an imperial country.
Otter Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 If any of you were in her positions you'd be miserable and stuck in ghe closet, living a half being forced to greet randoms for 50% of your life, never being able to do anything on your own and being under the thumb of some ancient institution and thus determined to keep/and you in place.
Proseductice Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Damn. I remember reading up on the London Bridge Operation and thinking about when it would happen in my lifetime.

Komet Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 BBC people wearing mostly black yeah, she prob already d-worded Long live the king sounds so awful btw, and it seems it will be a while since they get a queen again, m*n really always ruin things huh

The Queen couldn't do anything. whereas a country like the US, not only is the President the face of the country (portrait of him in every school and public building), but he also has political powers. I rather the people on my currency be nothing but figureheads than actual people in positions of power.

What is this fake woke BS. You can be against imperialism and still mourn the Queen who is not an active political figure, just a face for the family. She didn't decide to invade 90% of the world and certainly can't make any meaningful social/economic decisions on behalf of country to resolve that. Bezoz/Musk have actual power. MALAMENTE Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Im so mad bc Charles does not deserve to be king, and less so Camilla
greeneyedsoul Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 How long will it take for "God Save the Queen" to top iTunes?
HeavyMetalAura Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 regarding the arguments in here… I think that if you’re comparing her to a dictator then you have no sense of current events/politics and the monarchy’s present-day role. I also think if you’re calling her innocent and saying negative comments about her are “tacky,” you have no awareness of how many resources the monarchy gobbles up to basically be… a symbol, and the role she’s played in continuing this disturbing charade as people die in poverty. She’s no Hitler, but she’s no “Queen” in spirit either; only by definition. Wishing her health and comfort despite it at all.
