Completely broken me, such a sad day but so full of pride

The end got to me way more than I thought it would. What a ride. What a reign. The like of which will never be seen again

Although the nation's 10 days of national mourning ends after today, there's still 7 days of royal mourning to go, to give the royal family 7 days to actually mourn. Which they deserve before they resume engagements, as they're barely had any time to themselves to grieve properly since she died! Poor Anne and Charles especially look exhausted.

From Quora that I found on the fly (so not necessarily accurate) - and I'm assuming you're referring to Charles as well as the monarchs from other European countries.

It simply doesn't happen mostly for decorum reasons in modern constitutional monarchies as they're seen as old-fashioned and heavy and for other reasons below.

Mess. A monarch should not be the head of any church/religion period. A hope a future king/parliament changes this and allows Catholics (or any other religion) to be monarchs in the UK.

I don't really care for monarchy but idk something about Queen Elizabeth was likeable. I also like Harry and Meghan. Don't care for anyone else especially Charles and Camilla.

I only like Diana, Princess Anne (literally the best child of the 4 children the Queen had), Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan, Princess Catherine to an extent, Zara, Peter, Countess Sophia, Lady Louise, Princess Margaret, and Elizabeth II to an extent. I feel like there's something off about William. I used to like him, but idk anymore. Curious to see what George, Charlotte, and Louis will be like when they're older.

I hope Charles follow through with his plan to reduce the size of the monarchy/royal family to reduce spending and be more efficient.

Yeahhh well Charles and Camilla don't have the best reputation with the public to start with re: Diana. It subsided some in the wake of the queen's death, but I don't see it being an easy reign for him. Whereas William will likely have that starstruckness the queen did.

The vault where she and Philip will be interred to tonight (where her father/mother/sister currently are):

And how they’ll do it:

I wonder why Margaret's name is not on the lid of the vault. Maybe they will add it when they add Phillip and Elizabeth II's names? Although Margaret and the Queen Mother died around the same time, so if she wasn't added then, and hasn't been in the past 20 years, probably not. I think they should add her name, even if they are only ashes.

Even though this picture was ages ago it's still somehow hard to believe that all of these people are now gone:

The Royal Family have updated their website to indicate that the Queen and Prince Philip have now been buried in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, they are all now reunited in death.

End of an era..

Goodbye Queen Elizabeth !

Damn that funeral was incredibly moving - befitting for a woman who's entire life was to uphold and represent her country and who utterly excelled and exceeded every expectation. A legend never, ever to be forgotten.

Love seeing and hearing the info about where the Queen has been laid to rest and reunited with the others. No royalist but it’s history and that’s undeniable.

Random but crazy that when I was about 3 in nursery (2000) I bowed for the queen mother because she came to visit a bunch of nurseries and then I met the now current King Charles when my mum worked for Red Cross in 2004/2005 :deadbanana2: I was just doodling away on some paper and he came over to talk to me. My mum was in the presence of the queen too once. We’re from a South London council flat as well but this makes me sound mad Tory :rip:

Thanks for posting.

I still don’t understand why Margaret’s name isn’t on there since her ashes are in the vault too. It seems an injustice to her that she doesn’t have any grave/tomb to acknowledge her existence.

She has her own stone. It's the stone against the wall

A picture released from Buckingham Palace reveals that the fresh stone now contains, in list form, 'George VI 1895-1952' and 'Elizabeth 1900-2002' followed by a metal Garter Star, and then 'Elizabeth II 1926-2022' and 'Philip 1921-2021'

Thanks, that's really good to know. All this time I thought they were paying her dust, meanwhile she had a whole ass stone just for herself. :jonny:
