I don't get it. The ***** is fully dead. Why do people have to be so nasty towards towards her now? Where was all this energy during these past few years? I'm old enough to remember when Betty white and the queen was being used as one of those "protect at all costs" meme. The hatred isn't genuine. Saying you're gonna spit on someone's grave isn't normal behavior :rip:Have some tact people. Truly disgusting behavior from grown ass adults

because people are trying to act like she was a cute innocent harmless grandma when she was NOT one

This is so sad to hear and truly the end of an era

even those who weren’t British or part of the commonwealth nations have felt and seen as “THE Queen” it truly feels like a before and after time in the air right

glad she died peacefully she always seemed like a nice woman who truly committed to her duty

and the people saying all those nasty things should be ashamed, wtf is wrong with you? :rip:

not gonna lie I have mixed feeling about Charles becoming king but oh well

Rest In Peace Queen

you will always be remembered as “THAT QUEEN”

in most Indian eyes she was female Hitler.

Yeah let’s conveniently forget the Royal Families stance during WWII and even the fact that Hitler called the Queen Mother the most dangerous woman against the Nazi movement.

Let’s also forget that Hitler planned to overthrow King George VI if he had won and reinstall Edward VIII who had Nazi tendencies

in the last half century what did she do as Queen to negatively impact anyone's day to day life?

she refused to redistribute her stolen £30 billion fortune (courtesy of British taxpayers) to help her own starving people who have to rely on food banks.

she held onto stolen art and jewels from former colonies worth billions if £ despite those countries struggling during multiple financial crises

she lobbied Scottish government to be exempt from climate laws in Scotland.

she gave money to her son who sexually assaulted a teenager to help him settle the case outside of court.

and that's just the very recent events, we can Step Back In Time more like Kylie if you want  the point is she did not deserve her power and status, she was simply born. she wasn't special or remarkable in any way, even ATRL faves are more interesting, hardworking and talented.

on top of all that, now the government is saying that her death will cost Britain £6 billion pounds - in the middle of a cost of living crisis. people are struggling to pay their bills, of course they have some feelings about billions being carelessly spent on the nonce family

At the time of her accession, only 45 per cent of Danes were in favour of the monarchy, most believing it had no place in a modern democracy.

During her reign, however, Queen Margrethe has managed to stay away from scandal and helped to modernise the institution - allowing her two sons to marry commoners, for example. Today, the Danish monarchy is one of the most popular in the world, enjoying the support of more than 80 per cent of Danes. At 50 years and seven months on the throne, she is now the longest-reigning monarch in Europe following the death of her third cousin, Queen Elizabeth. She is trailed by her first cousin, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, who has been king for 48 years.

Yes I’ve learned a lot about her lately and she truly is the kind of queen anyone could ask for

she is also very talented in art and designing her Own clothes

Yes, Penny slayed! Also William is starting to look oddly handsome to me, in spite of being bald. He has a nice face.

This is not legally possible...yet.

If Charles wanted to, he could suspend their titles now though.

Piers is annoying, he actually gave such a great tribute the day the Queen passed but then ruins it with garbage like this. Now is not the time for such divisive rhetoric.

It's not a secret at all that Edward 8th was a Nazi sympathizer. He was a complete traitor to the country and was banished by the family.

The others I agree with BUT I really wish we would stop talking about money as being one of the negatives for the monarchy. The majority of the money the monarch gets goes towards staff wages and the upkeep of the buildings. Hundreds, possibly thousands of jobs around the country. The amount of money they get is extremely insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

I have no idea where this £6bn figure came from... that's A LOT of money and I'd love to see a source. I understand a big cost will be the bank holidays (which Labour was suggesting we have 4 more of them so the left can't really say much about that). Security is also a big cost but again, that'll be money that goes to people... wages... it'll go straight back into the economy eventually.

Why does nobody mention the large sums of money from the Crown Estates that goes to the government?

If we were ever to become a republic it would be a messy divorce that would leave the country out of pocket. The monarchy is deeply intertwined with all our institutions, would it be worth abolishing just to bring in a head of state who will most definitely be more polarising and not get the same level of respect on the world stage. In a diplomatic sense the monarchy does wonders for us; note all the Heads of State and Government across the world who’ve spoke about the Queen in such fondness who don’t necessarily say the same about our Head of Government.
