Queen Elizabeth II laid to rest: 1926-2022

But that's her NATION'S past NOT HER past. Please understand the distinction. Same to you @Communion and @ClashAndBurn. The UK Prime Ministers have had all the political power for a very long time. Elizabeth herself never colonized any region. You can't possibly blame someone for their ancestors actions.

Rest in pieces :ahh: Rot in hell

"Why didn't The Queen do the exact opposite of her job and comment/campaign on politically sensitive topics?" "Why didn't The Queen donate Argentina to Falklands, they have the very strong claim of "the islands are nearby"?"

:deadbanana:

Yeah, and why don't you spit in the food while your manager stands next to you and all the customers are watching you? Because you'd get fired and you have no way of forcing the customer to eat it. You'll change nothing and lose your job for no reason.

You know her dressing room in Parliament literally has a copy of her ancestors death warrant on the wall because he tried to do the things you're suggesting? It's there to warn the monarch not to step out of their lane or they'll join him. Your posts are literally "why isn't the UK a completely different country with completely different history"

Like, 100%, Britain should be a republic and it's disgusting we're not, but giving the monarchy more power is not the solution. :deadbanana:

I don't care, our suffering is legit and valid (stop calling it bullshit) and we have right to channel our anger/disappoinment.  :giraffe:

Inb4 someone pull another ShakiShaki and say that those countries deserved to be colonised. :rip:

Can the banner be removed? It's disrespectful to the victims of colonialism and imperialism.

idk where you guys are from @Cloröx and @greeneyedsoul but idk if you are CURRENTLY more victimized by the Brits or by your own local governments. but the point I've been trying to make is that Elizabeth is not the main culprit, if a culprit at all. Like, yeah she could have returned the Royal possessions that were stolen, but the outcry for that has only become bigger in recent years. King Charles is gonna feel more of that pressure in the coming years. Even he might be too old to read the room in that sense. Maybe William then.

The Hag also has India's Kohinoor diamond which is worth 10-12 Billion dollars :swan: Giving it back to us rightfully would end a lot of poverty and would be minimal reparations for all they stole from us but according to white Brits on here, we are supposed to feel bad for this nasty old demon's passing. Hope she and her monarchy never rest peacefully

Anyway, Elizabeth Windsor was not an innocent bystander to colonialism, as much as the “pwease be civil, she did nothing wong!” folks in here want to claim. She threw people in prison for fighting for their independence from the crown.

Apparently that crown is going to Charles III’s concubine.

Not a very mature response... If you were in her shoes, what would you have done? It's so easy to say that you would have changed the world, but I can't even imagine the pressure she faced to behave in a very regimented and predictable way. And I said on the previous page that maybe there could be some change with Charles or William then. But the wheels of Monarchy turn so slowly.

Your white-knighting to maintain the innocence of a rotting corpse is very telling. :coffee:

I will praise her longevity, commitment and dedication to her country as well as her role in helping feminism move forward by being a prime example. She was an extraordinary woman who took her job seriously, imagine the stories she could tell.

Now what she stood for and the pain and damage her institution caused years ago… different story.

Elizabeth Windsor as a woman and monarch… my deepest respects. A proper queen. Elizabeth I and Victoria would be proud.

One of the most straightforward yet best takes on this thread. :clap3:

What the ****? just when I think my country cannot get any darker in history

This is why I normally don't bother to learn about politics; seems like a whole lot of small victories while the crucial stuff stays unchangeable. depressing stuff. but hats off to those who put up with it and fight for what's right regardless. :clap3:

You mean like the people in the current colonies demanding reparations?

What moral argument is there against the case Jamaica puts forward against Britain?

Are you suggesting people in places like Jamaica *don't* want people supporting their demand?

Let me collect my coins if this happens

Let's stop being sexist and ageist and letting her off the hook for imperialism and colonialism (which happened during her reign and not just before it and which she continued to benefit from) just because she looked like a nice old lady with cute dogs and handbags.

Her reign as queen has had demonstrably more devastating, traumatic and far-reaching negative impact on the world and humanity than Donald Trump's presidency, for example, but when he croaks you don't get as many holier than thou calls to be "respectful" because he's not a frail old lady with a nice smile.

Oh, I guarantee that the liberals will be calling for civility and the need to refrain to be divisive when that man dies, just as they’re doing right now.
