This :skull: Hopefully he hasn't got long. My country needs to become a Republic ASAP so this man isn't our head of state

And Camilla the Queen Consort, what a tragic state of events :deadbanana4:

What exactly is the role of the Monarch? There was a episode on The Crown in which it was very controversial of her that she publicly express a political opinion and I think it was about being against the Vietnam war and the prime minister was for it.

will centuries of imperialism come to an end?

Girl the British Empire has BEEN over, it collapsed under her reign. It's not 1905 anymore.

Wow some of you need to be more respectful. Don't wish for anyone's death like that!

She is a figurehead only, doesn't partake in politics beyond a weekly meeting with the prime minister where she tries to advise him (since she's been through all of them and has a wider perspective of the 20th century than almost anyone else alive). Her symoblic role is that of linking the present with Britain's past. When she dies, there will be a national outpouring of grief beyond anything that has ever been seen. She is like the grandmother for the whole country. Even those who say they don't care about the monarchy will be in tears I think. I am one of those and yet I'm already getting teary-eyed. It makes me think of how I never got to say goodbye to my own grandmother.

The UK will be utter chaos. Millions will be in the streets.

That comment says enough and is not keeping it cute, y'all are horrible people, hope the mods really ban people who feel the need to be disgusting permabans

Agreed, Harry's apparently already there, not sure about Meghan. The comment that she's "comfortable" is telling too

They gave George V morphine before he died. That's what "comfortable" means when someone is on their last leg.

I hope she is not in pain. The fact that even Harry and Megan are flying there says everything. Nothing brings a family together like the death of the matriarch.

Yea she is like.... the single constant in all of our lives. Can't imagine what it'll be like the moment it happens

I cannot believe the amount of comments celebrating her health concerns. Wishing harm or ill health on anyone is disgusting. I hope she is okay.

BBC has cleared their schedule till 6PM and all of the announcers are already dressed in black with black ties. They must have inside info.

IT'S HAPPENING

They really need to keep making more seasons of the Crown, I can only image the drama that can be produced from her death/post-death, especially following the Harry drama :eatpopcorn:
