Not some members crying over harmless death jokes at the very same post they complain about "woke BS". :rip:

I thought some of you were upset at people on social media being so sensitive? well, toughen up then! Don't be a bunch of snowflakes!

She is a figurehead only, doesn't partake in politics beyond a weekly meeting with the prime minister where she tries to advise him (since she's been through all of them and has a wider perspective of the 20th century than almost anyone else alive). Her symoblic role is that of linking the present with Britain's past. When she dies, there will be a national outpouring of grief beyond anything that has ever been seen. She is like the grandmother for the whole country. Even those who say they don't care about the monarchy will be in tears I think. I am one of those and yet I'm already getting teary-eyed. It makes me think of how I never got to say goodbye to my own grandmother.

The UK will be utter chaos. Millions will be in the streets.

This is very intriguing. Is the show The Crown more fact based or things they assumed that happen?

regarding the arguments in here…

I think that if you’re comparing her to a dictator then you have no sense of current events/politics and the monarchy’s present-day role. I also think if you’re calling her innocent and saying negative comments about her are “tacky,” you have no awareness of how many resources the monarchy gobbles up to basically be… a symbol, and the role she’s played in continuing this disturbing charade as people die in poverty. She’s no Hitler, but she’s no “Queen” in spirit either; only by definition.

Wishing her health and comfort despite it at all.

The entire western world gobbles up so much resources that we can't even point that out without sounding hypocritical. And would she have been able to decline her position as the Queen to be in her youth? People would have called her a traitor so fast. Saying that she's no Queen in spirit is just rude because for millions of people around the world she very much is the Queen and maybe the only one. She's done her job and she's always had a tremendous responsibility to deal with. She couldn't spend years on an online forum shooting sh*t like we have been able to. It is some kinda privilege also to have nobody care about what you do or say, when you really think about it.

i feel like she passed away already and the news will break formally later in the day.  a lot of foreign media outlets have already reported her passing but quickly retracted claims.

the forced empathy and high horse from some replies here saying “HOW COULD YOU…”

empathy for someone who is dying can be unearned, and she did enough in her lifetime for me not to give a flying ****.

everybody dies and she is literally almost a century old plus a colonizer. good riddance. take the monarchy system with you.
