Distantconstellation Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 By that i mean absolutely not putting anything in it. No hair dye, gel cream, curl activator, etc.. I always see people with curly hair saying, this is my "natural hair" or "this is what my hair really loooks like". Ummm no it doesnt. Your hair would look a lot different if u didnt have all those products in your hair. Why is it not ok to let your hair be as is? Be frizzy, course, poofy, brittle, etc? This is coming from someone with curly hair.
pimmelfratze Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Yeah my hair is straight like me and I don’t use products except shampoo
PrettyHurts Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 using products doesn't make your hair "unnatural" to me, natural hair means no extensions of texture-altering products

Joyride Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 natural or styled? I don't use any products in my hair and I have beautiful curls, I usually blow dry it when I'm on the go and they get a little straightened/softer but my curls are very defined and natural and I use the most stripping shampoos out there, hate the feeling of oily hair or anything in my hair really, don't understand how people don't wash their hair everyday
Illuminati Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I mean I could probably style my hair with tap water if I'm honest, it's just really flat if I don't blow dry it upwards
Da Vinci Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I don't use products either (I'm a guy though) But I should probably start using conditioner and not just shampoo I can see why people are insecure about their "frizzy, poofy, etc." hair though, usually white/asian people with naturally str8 hair look down on people with curly hair, they just don't understand it and make weird comments and stuff
Take Me Apart Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I just put on a bonnet after washing it and then once it dries i mess with it using my hands a bit so it's not flat it's not much but it's good work for my wavy hair
shookspeare Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I think most guys have "natural" hair? idk I've never used products, aside from shampoo of course girls are a different story though, can't say I blame them. every time my hair gets even a little long it gets so difficult to manage, can't imagine having a whole head of it

Revolution Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 idk what you're talking about tbh. my dad has naturally curly hair.
JoeAg Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 the only product i use at the moment is the "curl power" cream from lush, and it works amazingly I also use essential oils + coconut oil to do the inversion method. but yeah other than those i don't style my hair or anything like that, my curls are natural

Subzero Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I have curly hair too and I wouldn't say that its not "natural" with product but is more prepared for/less effected by outside forces. Most hair products tend to keep your hair's **natural form/curl pattern from a wet state** and keeps it intact/retains moisture from outside forces (like weather and temp) effecting it as strongly than without. My hair is still curly without product but it's much more easily *effected by outside forces* without it. Weather and temp are also big outside forces/factors of how your hair will appear. Wet hair without product will appear differently after drying in a very high moisture/low temperature vs drying in low moisture/high temperature environment. What makes one or the other the true "natural"? They both are. Most stuff like gel, moose or hair spray is used to essentially "freeze frame" the state of your natural hair shape when wet and keep it in place as opposed to "altering" the natural form of your hair which some other products definitely do. Either way, everyone should be able to not be judged for their hair being whatever way it is without any products/etc.
