ooh imagine if it actually goes higher

That would be insane. A lazy compilation Album being in the top 10 is a bad sign. There so many good albums out right now and none stick in the charts.

Oh eminem it took me a minute.

I think it's clear that labels are putting together GH and compilations to consolidate streams.

With The weeknd and Eminem it didn't make much sense because they still have albums charting on the BB200 and unless their label figured the parent albums already certified it as high as it's going to go so let's get another gold/platinum compilation album then I'm not sure the point for the labels.

Now if Taylor, Beyonce, Drake, Rihanna ended up doing it like the weeknd/eminem whew the amount of albums they'd block from the top spot.

Quiet as its kept, they really just need to run us a Rihanna compilation with a few tracks from R9 sessions before she retired, she'd make up for all those #1 peak misses in prime.:coffee2:

for artists like Pitbull (who did it before most others awhile back) and others who have hits but do not have charting BB200 albums consolidating makes the most sense because the labels can stretch out another gold/platinum plaque knowing the parent albums are not in demand even for a throwback.

Lots of us thought in the streaming era there'd never be a need for GH/compilations after Itunes but labels found a way to streamline (pun intended) singles to get another plaque. It's a win win but also says alot of about the label's view of said artists who are not charting on the bb200 with their parent albums and their expected run going forward. Who would have thought Pitbull would set a trend?

Yeah, little competition right now but labels seem to find a way to stretch out a catalog. After Itunes the question was: why have a GH album when you can pick your own? I hope more acts do it tbh. I just fear a Drake/Taylor/Rihanna/Beyonce/Bruno GH/comp:lakitu:

But it was either Pitbull or someone before him in the streaming domination phase where a label realized the parent album is not giving what it was supposed to give in longevity but streams count for albums and singles (double counting) what if we bring GHs back/create compilations for albums who are no making enough movement to get new cert updates every few years and put them in a package and we can get a gold if not platinum new plaque for it.

It's actually smart on the labels part because sometimes you must want to listen to a certain artist and you don't have to create a playlist. The label created a playlist for you.

It's a questionable sign to an artist that doesn't have charting albums on the BB200 based on strong recurrent streams, though. The label seems to view them in a certain way to do that. for instance, Taylor swift is showing no signs of heading in that direction just yet because she's still netting a handful of bb200 entries with some still in the top 50:psyduck: but she's relevant outside of her stanbase and if she has a hit as her catalog has the girls streaming like they are hit singles.

Labels should start putting them out in 4Q around the holidays me thinks.

Is that why the new GH from

the Queen of Pop charted 8 - OUT?

The King of Rap has his original Diamond Certified GH album charting at #58 and the new is at #26 and anything Madonna is N/A.

The math simply isn’t mathing and it’s about time that we start having a honest conversation on why her catalogue never charts but yet many 70’s, 80’s, 90’s acts are constantly charting their catalogue.

I’m ready whenever ya are. :michael:
