nathanspears Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Just now, Before Today said: It can be, depends on who you follow tbh. I actively avoid those types of "influencers". It's not just influencers, it's everybody. Every person only posts the positives and good things in their life, it's really dystopian. I dread to think of the impact on mental health it's caused since it started.

Never ever had any problems with people posting good stuff but imo the face tuning and skin tuning NEEDs to be stopped

Hmmmm I think that depends more on the person watching, if a person is upset because other people are posting happy stuff(even if fake) that person needs to work in their self-esteem. —————- On another topic, since a lot of people rent cheap studios to pretend they are in jets, the same with bags and other luxury items it has become tacky to post that. It has lost all its prestige, really rich people are not flaunting themselves in social media anymore. Is really cheap to do so.
Delirious Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 It's crazy how models look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good in pics but in motion they look completely different and kinda bad tbh. Like I always use to think it was yadda yadda all fake but it's so true!!!

xclusivestylesz Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Why do people even care? If you don't already know that everything on social media is fake, then the jokes on you. Just mind your own business and do you. Let other people live their own life. If it bothers you so much then just log off/delete
ThisNihilist Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 These people are just trying to get rich and famous in a lazy way, thats not the problem. The problem is the people believing this bs. It’s scary how obsessed and defensive people are of influencers and/or celebrities even on this site

Every person only posts the positives and good things in their life, it's really dystopian. I dread to think of the impact on mental health it's caused since it started. What this person is getting at is how manufactured social media is all around, not just influencers. Individuals tend to only post the positive aspects of their lives online, leaving out the negatives. This can lead to social media comparisons (the name of the actual studied theories behind this is escaping me, but remember learning these in undergrad) and a detrimental impact on mental health.
Happylittlepunk Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Social media should not make you miserable just cause somebody you follow is posting pics eating at nice restaurants or traveling. If upsets you that’s more on you not the person you follow. Instagram is just a fantasy anyway ppl are posting Facetune pics all the time. You shouldn’t be following ppl who fake lifestyles anyway.
God_Donna Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Humans are empty. Evil and absolutely horrible.

This doesn’t really make sense when the people that are posting the fake alluring side of their lives have major issues with their own self esteem. Living for the validation of others isn’t exactly a healthy thing to do sis..

All the horror and atrocities in the world and being fake online seems to be the worst thing to some. This narrative is so overdone.
