U.S. Military Faces A Growing Recruiting Crisis

The U.S. military is facing uncertain waters: A diminishing pool of eligible applicants, low unemployment and the public's fading trust in the institution have made recruiting much harder then in previous years. The Army has been especially hard-hit by these issues, and currently faces a massive recruiting shortfall.

"The Army has to recognize that there's been an evolution in that young population," said U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif, chair of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. "And if you're going to target that young population for service, you've got to make it appealing to them."

well their ads for the military hasnt really kept up with the times. their ads really only appeal to people who play call of duty, but then again those types of people are probably the only demographic who would have a slight interest of joining to begin with

Britain is facing the same problem except that they’re reporting that their problem is that today’s youth is too out of shape to join.

No one wants to apply for the criminal enterprise.

Well then another draft will occur to make up the numbers if a war breaks out.

They should let undocumented people join with the promise of citizenship for their service.

You can’t expect people to fight for a “freedom” that doesn’t exist.

The 3 reasons to join the US military

- You’re vulnerable & in need of the support, food, shelter & false sense of belonging.

- You’re a psychopath or a gun nut hoping to exact your violent fantasies.

- You come from a military family & it’s all you know or you have been successfully brainwashed with nationalistic propaganda & “heroism” rhetoric.

Good. They should abolish the military and use the hundreds of billions in the defense budget every year to finally give us as Americans universal healthcare.
