TikTok’s algorithm isn’t anything special. It’s effective yes. But the algorithm is just a recommendation system that countless social media apps use. The reason it works so well is because of its UI that gives it constant data to train the recommendation system since all you see are videos you either like, rewatch, and/or skip. Its popularity also helps with this. So, this is something that can be replicated. — TikTok’s rise makes me feel so old. I’ve tried so hard to get into it but I just don’t like the vast majority of the content it provides. The “trusting the algorithm” angle of it just is not for me.

Happylittlepunk Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I am happy that i didn’t get into tik tok. Life is more than technology. Idk about you guys but I rather spend my time actually traveling, making friends, experiencing life than be glued on the screen maybe I’m old idk. I can’t spend more than 15 minutes on any social media app without getting exhausted with so much dumb ****. Instead of watching a video of some girl **** talking about men or someone hiking in Europe I rather do something else.

The only difference is that TikTok is a young company and hasn’t partially relied on iOS advertising revenue for over a decade like older tech companies have. for sure, but facebook's advertising platform was by far the best of any competitor and it's sophisticated targeting capabilities made it essential. now, it's on a much closer playing field with less sophisticated advertising platforms like tiktok's. and given tiktok's surge in popularity, when all things equal, advertisers will diversify budgets and invest more on the "cool" platform.
The7thStranger Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 I don't get TikTok results in what I search for. What annoys me is that Google bombards you with Amazon and shopping links for pages before showing anything else.
