I knew I was going to create havoc with my hot take but I had to get it out my chest! When God wants me to speak he takes hold of my tongue and the words just flow out!  No regrets tho! :eli: I hope my fellow Dear John hating sistrens can now live their truth freely and with dignity without shame! :'(  I walked so that they may RUN :'(

WCS kinda ended Dear John's whole career. Dear John is cute for a song solo written when she was a teenager, but I don't think she'd put out such a plodding and melodically non-descript song anymore

Sorry but I love Speak Now more than I could ever love you :sosad:

Lemme just say there's a reason that speak now flopped gloablly... It's not that appealing to most, including moi

There are so many people here exposing their tragic taste over and over, and they aren't even the usual Rep stans :deadbanana4:

It's clear that you guys just don't get Dear John, and that Speak Now really is just too good for you.

In other news, there's no reason to fret over CaroLana missing the Oscar since Taylor's directoral debut will surely snatch a nom or two :fan:

Do you even like Taylor Swift if you think Dear John is bad?

sorry in advance for the mini rant...

yes she's obviously privileged but it's funny how she's always accused of having it easy when she worked her ass off to get where she is now and still yet to slow down... meanwhile some others do the bare minimum and get whatever they wish for plus get praised for it... like I can put 20 examples off the top of my head but let me stay quiet since I know many no-lifers lurk here on the regular.

Speak Now TV is coming to fix that mistake. Her label just didn't know how to promote her internationally.

THIS.

They marketed it as pure country and only released the most cousin-marrying bops (minus SoU) when imo the slower country songs (DJ, LK) and the more upbeat pop/rock songs (Long Live, Haunted, Enchanted, BTR) were wayyy better (not to say the long country ballads would make for good singles though or that Mine, SF, or BTD were bad single choices). They had no idea how to market ha follow up to AOTY without hurting Taylor’s brand, and honestly it’s because the album is kind of all over the place.

Now that she doesn’t have to care about maintaining a genre in the eyes of the gp she can just do whatever she wants and push Haunted Enchanted like she should have a decade ago. :cm: Miss SN will finally get her deserved flowers.

I’ve been going backwards through her catalogue (mostly because I haven’t streamed her in a couple weeks) and Lover is a little bit better than I remember. I usually don’t stream it in full (at all) since it was by far her worst pop album. But the “weaker” songs like Paper Rings and I Think He Knows aged really well. Cornelia Street, False God, and DBATC are all still excellent. The Man and The Archer are still underwhelming though. London Boy and ITHK are still useless. And ME! still should’ve been a soundtrack song for Secret Life of Pets 2. But still. A solid pop album and better than the output of your average B List pop girl.

taylor is like pizza, even when it’s bad it’s good :clap3:

lover is her worst album but it’s still listenable which is crazy and just shows how great she is.
