Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’

Folklore and Evermore did way worse streaming numbers, with that logic maybe she needs to write an album full of 'Me!" and 'London Boy'. BTW, SOS is doing 27M streams on Spotify the same day Midnights was doing 26M (with Xmas songs already flooding). Maybe you need to consider that people like SZA or Olivia Rodrigo have just 1 or 2 albums out and Taylor has 10 with a catalog gaining +30M streams everyday. ¿Maybe it's a bit more difficult 17 years into your career when your fans can choose from a vast catalog?

can we stop talking about albums, hers are smashing anyway possible and it was my bad for even saying anything different.

i was talking about smash hits.

I'm not reading all that, congratulations or sorry that happened.

OT: Any chances for Midnights to remain at #1 in Australia this week too?

Some of you need to understand that it is completely fine for other female artists to smash as hard/harder than Taylor

Taylor Swift has a huge fanbase that can make any song go to #1, but at the same time people have already decided if they like her or not, if they are interested in her music or not. Hits like Blank Space are a once in a lifetime thing and they happen when people are discovering your music and/or they don't have a very strong opinion about you. That being said, there must be like 2 or 3 bigger songs (As It Was, Unholy, maybe another one I don't remember) in 2022 and it still did great numbers.

I'm not saying an artist in the position of Taylor can't get an even bigger hit with a pre-released single, but it's far easier when you are new and she prioritizes the album's performance. Anti-Hero released one month before would have pulled insane numbers and with more stability, but then the album would have been met with much less hype on streaming, like 'As It Was-Harry's House' or 'Easy On Me-30'.

Didn't Harry's House debut with pretty amazing numbers first week for a somewhat new artist/or old if we count his 1D days even with a pre-released single?

I agree its true that for Taylor, it's much harder to have a smash like AIW or Blinding Lights or Shape Of You because she can call herself a veteran at this point.

But that's why I wonder if she'll ever have a smash in the future like Flowers, which still increasing in streams on its 6th days, or a post-released hit like Cuff It or Kill Bill. Delicate was a cute hit but its like 5 years ago.

liam13 posts are so unnecesseary, he deserves 10 me! type of songs as singles so he can stop complaining about Anti-hero, 2 days ago Taylor celebrated anti-hero’s 8th week at #1. Im sure she is not sad about Anti-hero’s chart performance. And tbh I'm not either, because the song is doing absolutely great.

Strong numbers. Anti-Hero still doing around 3.5M streams for at least a month now, very promising for its long term stability. :clap3:

Is there any reason why there is such a strong difference between the streams of the standard and the 3AM edition? Because it doesn't just look like your typical "lasts songs on the album get less streams than the first".

the dumbasses at spotify still got the playlisted songs linked to the standard instead of the 3AM edition :ace:

That, and there are two versions of the standard tracks and just one of the 3am tracks, so there are plenty of unaware casual listeners who are just not seeing them when they look at the album.

The vocals really are produced far better than on Loser. LH is like ITHK done right, similar to how Labyrinth is like The Archer done right :jonny:

HackantonOFF improved in vocal production in Midnights compared to Lover, sure. But the bar set in Lover was in hell so it’s not much of a compliment. I still can’t understand what the hell she’s saying in Cruel Summer. He was bringing her talents down along with him.

As much as I love Midnights, I’m hoping it’s their last collaboration in a while at least. His productions in 1989,rep,lover and midnights are so similar and interchangeable that most of the tracks can fit in each album seamlessly :rip: not to mention midnights regurgitates previous melodys/chorus/production from albums past. I hear it in most of the songs.

Thank god Max took over major vocal/production in 89/rep. We weren’t able to fully see Jacks limitations till lover. God bless Dessner for setting the bar in folklore so Jack had a roadmap to fit into.

there’s a reason why Lavender Haze sounds and is something she’s never done before, thanks to new collaborators. Glitch sounds fresh in her discography. Dessners Great War and High infidelity take her to new ground. AntonOFF has nothing new to offer her.

She is still 32 and with TikTok nowadays you never know. That'll be great but it also could be a bad sign. If you are powered by nostalgia or your target audience is discovering your song as the time passes, it means they have not paid attention in the release day. Obviously if you have a massive hit it can happen either way, but I don't think Taylor will keep trying to score smash pop hits for a long time.

The stage is a rough mock up from the floor map and it varies from venue to venue. Some have a backing to the stage and some don’t… Stubhub clearly does not have a 3D image of the stage at this point :rip:

Anti-Hero is still doing 3.6m every day after several weeks and some people still think it's not a hit? pfff

I agree with @liam13. Her albums and singles have always dropped pretty fast in streams. She just has a large fanbase at this point, GP isn’t really here for Her. :gaycat6:

Ah yes, the peculiarly gigantic fanbase that is somehow not apart of the general public but a separate entity. The fanbase that is inexplicably propping up a discography that routinely charts 8+ albums and has individual albums that are out-streaming others' entire discographies.

...do y'all hear how stupid you sound sometimes?

Posted

yall...she's #2 on the album chart doing like 80k....she is beyond FINE lol.

The GP is in fact into her music and Anti-Hero is indeed a proper hit :rip: Even if you remove the weeks where she included remixes or whatever...she'd still lock in a solid 4 weeks at #1. That's not a sign of a fan driven hit lol. That's GP driven.

The album is also doing like 16M daily streams still...Midnights is HUGE guys :rip: Come on now....

I get wanting her to smash like no one else...nothing wrong with being extremely ambitious for your fav but sometimes you miss out on what is right in front of you if you only look at the peaks of other stars. Taylor is literally in a new career peak and some of you guys are going to miss out on the fun by dreaming she had a smash like Flowers or topping the BB200 like SZA right now when Midnights is and will ultimately be bigger than both SOS and Endless Summer Vacancy.

I'm so confused :rip:

Taylor just celebrated Anti-Hero's eighth week at #1. What MORE do some of y'all want from the song? It's literally the definition of a hit? And same with the album. The entire era has been nothing but a smash. Some of y'all are just never happy ffs

I just wish they would troll somewhere else. It's not like OTH's threads are rare if they want to play dumb.
