funny that AH is #1 this week... because a decade ago during this exact week IKYWT got blocked by LOOH on the hot100 despite having the 6th biggest selling week in digital singles history with 582k

I remember this. The first time streaming held her back. I think Red wasn’t available to stream until way after? If we only knew then her war with streaming was barely beginning.

The chorus of Karma is similar Halsey’s  “God is a Woman” song. Anyone else notice the similarities?

omg, it kinda is the same melody. Just an extended version. Halsey didn’t manage take it all the way though.  Can’t unhear it now :chick2:

Midnights 5 weeks #1, 8 weeks #2 :gaycat6:

Hopefully :giraffe: a lot more weeks at #2 to come

if midnights stabilizes at 55-60k she will definitely be stuck at #2 for sometime unless any big releases pushes her or SZA from the top 2. Hopefully she will still be high enough by the start of the tour to snatch an additional week or two at #1 (assuming she doesn't release physicals for 3am which looks very unlikely now).

I can see midnights spending some 2-4 more weeks at #2 before something else surpasses it. Tour is still 8 weeks away so hopefully it holds relatively strong until then. The rep tour did WONDERS for puta considering how hard that free fell shortly after release and the tour really gave it a second wind.

I think when it's all said and done midnights will have spent 6-7 weeks at #1 and 12-15 weeks at #2 which grants some 18-22 weeks in the top 2 just behind 1989's 23 weeks. I just need it to not totally collapse and stay close to SOS in units to maybe snatch that YEC #1

We need another hit single out of the era. That will grant this album immense longevity. I hope her team really goes hard for Lavender Haze.

This. Swifties are so greedy, They saw Miley smashing and now want Taylor to have a song that does the same.

Taylor is consistent over 10 albums, that's better than a hit single once in a while.

  • Wanting a pre release single is now being greedy? Releasing a pre release single is pretty NORMAL

It’s just very basic and it feels lazy. I like the song but it is a massive disappointment coming from the 2 leading female songwriters tbh

it definitely is a disappointment ngl but calling it #19 worse song?

But who cares at this point? Midnights' whole strategy worked out so well bc everything was shrouded in mystery :rip: I also promise you Anti-Hero, and certainly not Lavender Haze, wouldn't have had the same effect without coming in context of the album. That's just not how she marketed stuff this time and I'd say she made a pretty smart decision judging by the smashery :giraffe:

You'd think people would stop complaining about there not being a pre-release single after the utter demolition this era, with more yet to come. But alas, it's always something...

Mess. SOS is coming for Folklore's weeks at #1 after all :rip:

What's the problem if she gets only one big hit for era when she makes 2 albums every year and probably this fall we'll get a new #1 from 1989.

Also the only artist with big smashing singles after first single i can think about this decade is just dua lipa. Pre single or not who has a second single smashing as or more than the first?

Not Adele, not Harry, not ariana, not jack harlow,  and so on. I can't think to all these eras with pre singles and then smashing with so many singles.

Maybe Beyoncè is doing better with cuff it but break my soul wasn't that bigger and LH with the real radio promotion will probably perform as Cuff it.

I would say Harry applies because Fine Line had its two biggest hits (well, the only two hits) smash well after the album. There’s also definitely Doja Cat (not familiar with her songs but I know she had several) and The Weeknd (Save Your Tears).

But it’s true, it’s a rarity these days and the best way to promote your album is by being active, touring, etc etc. Which she will be doing soon. Post-album hits are just a stoke of luck but plenty of albums smash without them. Plus as you said LH will probably do well once it’s actually pushed. It’s gotten as far as it has on radio due to hype/goodwill alone, of course it’s stalled and when there’s nothing for it yet. Once they actually start focusing on it as the main single, it’s likely it’ll do fine. Like it’s already sitting in Hot 100 top 30 without any real push, just some radio audience :deadbanana:

I was talking about harry's last, the album before was released in 2019 and anyways it was his first really big pop album, when he really exploded, so it's really different, as is different for Doja cat, also a newcomer..in this case is easily to get more singles successfull cause people discover your album in a second moment, while huge artist of course are more hyped and more og the GP listen the album on the first weeks. We can say the same for dua lipa too in some way.

The weeknd seems the real expection here with 3-4 really smashing songs when he was already a real big star with an album already big on streaming from the week 1.

So is this the reason she ahead of Sza on Artist 100 chart?

I wouldn't say *this time*. This strategy was the same for folklore, evermore, Red TV and now Midnights. I feel like some of you still have PSTD from ME and YNTCD releases which kinda botched the Lover's album release but why would a good pop song ruin the hype? It simply doesn't make sense. :coffee2: And don't you say that there won't be more singles apart LH , why this change now?

Anyways please don't reply cuz I know another non sense response will come from you.

Yeah that’s true, you can notice it’s mostly new acts doing this. The fact that Taylor even has a song as big as Anti Hero is already a miracle, I mean we all thought those days were over.

The best way to get a post-album hit if you really want one is to do a proper big-name remix or push a deluxe song that is basically ‘new’ when streaming gets it.

Fearless TV is in the 600-700k range in pure sales. It's not getting to 1M anytime soon unfortunately (if ever).

That’s fine, we’ll just not count the TV’s separate from their OG’s. :gaycat5:

Back in the good old Pop days, singles were released every 3 months. Anti Hero’s time is up and I hope we get LH’s video real soon :duca:

was jamming to the song and started salivating at the thought of a LH SZA and Drake remix :WAP: the song is Sza’s hometown and her harmonizing with Tay on it with Drake riding the beat… :oh: Heaven!!

Spoiler

And guarenteed Rhythmic Smash!! a forum homo can only dream…. :bibliahh:
