Sazare Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 There are many parallels between the burgeoning career of US Country star Morgan Wallen and Country/Pop singer taylor swift, not only in terms of their career beginnings, but also their personalities and talent levels. Consider these similarities: - Both are singer-songwriters from Appalachia whose first albums are country-pop - Despite no pop crossover hit, both ‘Dangerous’ and swift’s self-titled debut were among the biggest albums of their respective years (as well as the year after) in the US, though both continue to struggle outside of the US market. - During their first eras, both espoused violent conservative language (Morgan Wallen with his use of the n-word and the other with her virulent homophobia) Will Morgan Wallen continue to follow in his foremother’s footsteps or will he surpass her?
blueberries Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) Nope. He is very local, Taylor was the first country star to have international success since Shania. Edited August 28, 2022 by blueberries

LosingHimWasBlue Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 I think he is the new Lady Gaga. Huge first era, and (hopefully) plummed in his several next era. And (I wish) become Fad too.

Brooklyn Baby Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 You guys want Taylor to be racist so bad. Not happening I fear

Safe&Sound Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 He's probably another Sam Hunt/Thomas Rhett/Kane Brown Hot country boy for 2-3 eras and once a younger guy comes, they will ditch him

Yes, because this thread is completely serious and not at all the work of a desperate troll, what with Taylor's history of "virulent homophobia" and all Edited August 29, 2022 by Headlock
Protocol Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 "Teardrops On My Guitar" was a crossover hit peaking at #7 on pop and #6 on Hot AC

This is much like Up Down from Wallen’s debut, which went top 50 on the Hot 100. Edited August 29, 2022 by Sazare
Green Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Maybe if the racism incident didn't happen he could have had multiple crossover hits like Taylor did during her first 3 country albums Also during Fearless (her second album) Taylor had a top 2 hit in the UK with Love Story. Morgan doesn't have that worldwide success with Dangerous (his second album). But when it comes to country success he's more like this generation Garth Brooks or if you want to compare him with a female he would be more like Carrie Underwood who is more local.
