The thing is, if the military says they can no longer maintain readiness with a pure volunteer force, Congress will have no choice but to go back to some sort of required military service.

The US will be become South Korea 2.0 when ppl no longer want to enlist. This is the US own fault though getting into unnecessary wars and defending the EU.
