Just saw it and it kinda sucked. I can forgive characters acting dumb but these were some of the dumbest people I’ve ever watched. Wasn’t scary or funny. 2013 is so much better.

The eye scene was silly and camp but that’s the Sam Raimi touch/legacy, he had scenes like that in Drag me to hell or Doctor Strange 2 so it was on brand.

Fede has been involved in nothing but absolute trash since he did Don't Breathe, we should be lucky he is nowhere near this movie

I’d guaranteed he’d do a much better job than current director. Just look at all the flops he’s has…

id rather have the director of an okay indie horror attached to this than the person responsible for the last Texas Chainsaw Massacre film but thats just me…

Yea. But you should form your own opinion. Some of the responses are typical just atrl haters trying to be different lol

No. The story was all over the place, bad acting (from the kids), stupid characters, plot made zero sense and cheap looking CGI (in the gore scenes).
I haven’t seen such a generic and predictable movie since The Nun, but I’m confused as to why TN got dragged while this one was praised when they shared the same tropes.

Spoiler

This. My biggest turn-offs were:
1) Apparently 911 doesn’t exist. Even though they live in a crowded city.

2) Neighbors upstairs and in the next door can’t hear screams and gunshots.

3) The idea that ‘the cursed book was inside a vault in an old bank under the basement that became accessible because of an earthquake’ seems like try-hard reach.
4) As we saw, the air duct could barely fit a cat, let alone a 3-hybrids monster.

5) Stupid characters, especially the youngest daughter, her brother and all the side characters.

6) If the demon could randomly possess anyone (like he did with the mom and Jessica), why didn’t he possess the final girl? I mean, she’s the one that kicked his ass.

7) The CGI in the Grinding-machine scene was so bad 💀

8) The peephole scene where the possessed mother was running after the neighbors was laughable.

9) I didn’t connect or cared about any character. The human stories like the father who left his family or the ‘failure-sister’ seemed forced and superficial.

I’m all for fun. But I’ll have to be invested in what I’m watching to enjoy it.

The thing is, the movie doesn’t even establish itself as camp or silly (Like Child’s play, Final destination, resident evil…etc) to take it lightheartedly.
It tried to serve The Conjuring, but we ended up with The Nun, but even less scary.

I watched it last night and it was bad. The budget clearly included buying reviews, the CGI was terrible.

This was excellent :clap3:I might go see it again tomorrow to relive the experience

No one could call anyone after the earthquake. Everyone’s phones were down. Even the group from the opening scene.

he has a "Story by" credit and also wrote the first draft of the screenplay before someone else re-did it.

Agree with everything.

CGI was a whole ass mess. At least the 2013 remake made it feel somewhat real. The make up was kindergarten bad. Dialogue awful.

They live in a 20 story building and after an earthquake that collapsed the whole stairway only 2 neighbors came out (the ones on the same floor). The rest just slept through it all? Like no one called 911…please

I actually feel this one has characters way lore fleahed out than 2013, besides MIA those characters sucked

i was gonna say, the entire franchise isn't really known for having deep dramatic characters or complicated emotional arcs...
