I finally watched it and I had a lot of fun. I do believe that it's the weakest one of the franchise but still very enjoyable :clap3:

This looked like a team of practical VFX wanted to showcase what they can do, so they came up with the most generic storyline that had absolutely no depth whatsoever.

Everyone just standing there for half the movie :skull:

you don't watch the evil dead series for the plot so let's be real. the storyline isn't as paper thin as you make it out to be. and what did you expect? it's a horror movie that's meant to be over the top and campy. half the characters being kids/teens with nowhere to go or any resources, were you expecting them all to serve buffy and the movie be over in minutes or what?

my only complaint was the scene execution of the hallway murders. i get what they were trying to go for but it came off as very a very low budget way to capture the horror

The movie was made for streaming services..the positive reactions changed the direction and they released it on theatres..the budget wasn't big..

I understand that but plenty of low budget horror movies have been able to not look like their low budget is what I'm trying to get at

I'd give this movie a light to decent 7/10.

Call me crazy, but I actually think nothing tops (no pun intended) the opening sequence and opening title card sequence. From there, Evil Dead Rise is still briskly-paced, but the movie's stakes are never quite raised and there's a lack of mystery surrounding who's possessed and who's next to get eaten/stabbed/killed what this. This and the 2013 remake are missing the cheesy, black comedy that made the first two Evil Dead movies superior in laughs, entertainment, and genuine scares.

The 2013 remake and 2023 sequel (or requel) are too polished, despite being located in filthy, murky locations, and there's no chance for zany/over-the-top jokes and antiques.

Still, the 2023 sequel is the third best Evil Dead movie behind the first two Evil Dead movies. I haven't seen Army of Darkness in forever, but I did not care the Medieval setting Evil Dead 2 ended on, so I have a feeling I won't appreciate/enjoy Army of Darkness as much as I did as a kid.

Regarding the hype surrounding Evil Dead Rise, I wouldn't say I was disappointed, per se, but my expectations were pretty moderate & I felt like this movie just met them rather than exceeded them.

This is a great year for horror with Evil Dead Rise, M3GAN (still need to watch the Unrated cut), Infinity Pool (not sure if I watched the uncut version; I don't think so since the HJ scene I saw was graphic but definitely implied, Scream 6, and Cocaine Bear.

Knock at the Cabin would've been better had it not ended so predictably. I hated the movie so much it really destroyed any opportunity I might've had to enjoy the movie.

I still need to watch Renfield for Nicholas Cage & Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, because apparently I don't value my time, and, like you guys, I'm a horror fan/enthusiast.

Really enjoyed this. I’m not sure if I’ve seen the first 3, are they worth watching or have they aged badly?

The first two are def worth watching. The third one is a bit polarizing, as it kinda abandons the horror aspect and really focuses on comedy

Evil dead 2 and army of darkness are comedy films and not really my type.. the first evil dead is a classic and my favourite of the franchise
