I didn’t realise this performed so well at the box office, slay a bit! I didn’t get chance to see it at the cinema as I ended up taking my nephews to see Mario and GOTG3 instead but I’ll give it a watch on digital.

People calling this movie bad - tell me your favorite horror movies, I'm tryna see something....

This movie was so much fun, I loved it. Not scary per se but creepy and really enjoyable to watch.

What’s your favorite horror movie of the year?

This is how I can tell you’re not a true horror fan or you’re a bro fan like bro comic fans where you belittle people who like things you hate. We are here to celebrate horror films. Maybe they’re not your taste but that’s what has been great about the horror community. “Oh you love? I respect that” “I love this. Oh not your favorite?” The horror movie community always has fun together. So don’t sit here and just “laugh” and make someone feel bad. Tell us about you and your favorite films? Huh? I bet you won’t.

All of them this year has been in the gutter. I was a huge fan of the 2013 Evil Dead version, and was really excited about this one but left really disappointed because had high hopes. Predictable, bad cgi, just all around bad story line/bad script, camera angles were off. It didn’t feel like a horror movie, wasn’t scary at all. Maybe Insidious Red Door can save horror this year. But not gonna have high hopes.

This was really great interms of gore and practical effects. It even gave a little bit of "The Thing" monster vibes towards the end which surprised me. My major issues is that if felt like they were trying to check off to many Evil Dead tropes like the chainsaw, the blood, being tied up by evil branches, fire, the book, and the list goes on. It honestly made the movie drag, specifically when the mom got locked out, and I could tell everyone felt the same by how fidgety everyone was in there seats. This can still can stand on its own (below) the 2013 Evil Dead so I think they accomplished a lot especially with how much money its made with bo promo.

Queen Grace reviewed the movie and liked it despite not being a fan of gore.

This was fine, it was entertaining enough. I think I liked it better than the 2013 one. The setting overall made it stand on its own more for me vs generic cabin in the woods. I also liked the added family dynamic here, and I appreciated that they were afraid to go there in terms of harming the characters despite this.

Two things that I didn’t really like:

Spoiler

Even though I praised them for going there, I still think they could’ve pushed it further. Initially I thought all of the kids would survive due to their ages, so when they killed off the two older ones I was a bit surprised that they were willing to go there. I figured they would just use the side characters / other residents for the deaths. However once we were left with the pregnant aunt and the little girl, it was kinda over because there was obviously no way they were going to harm either of those two, so yeah.

Also I don’t really like when characters in movies like this get injuries but somehow they don’t effect them at all. Like the aunt was stabbed through her hand and had a cheese grater raked over her leg and she just bandaged them up, called it a day and was fine :rip: I’m gonna at least need an “ouch” moment or something, come on

Didn't live up to my hype, I didn't love it :chick3:

It just wasn't epic enough I mean the ending battle was kinda weak, there were good moments throughout but it didn't live up what it could have been

It was fine, not bad!

The way this movie wasted that cheese grater moment. It could have been the machete through a kneecap moment like the 2013 version.

Was it just me or was this movie paced terribly? Felt way longer than 96 minutes. Still liked it though.

i had the exact opposite experience in the theater, I thought it flowed by beautifully and ended when it wanted it to. but this could change on a second watch tbh
