Evil Dead franchise | Two new movies announced

Finally saw this! My theater was gooped and gagged at every turn! I agree with everyone though that Evil Dead 2013 is still the best entry in this franchise. There wasn’t really much of a “story” in this one.

one could argue that their was just as much if not more in this one then the last lol regardless both are solid and worthy efforts. the mother in this film knocked it out of the park with her performance. one to watch for sure.

my only gripe is the way the neighbors were killed. could've been executed much differently. it gave off budget constraint. also correct me if im wrong but this movie implies that their is no solution once the evil is released? did mia not survive by killing the deadite in the last entry or am i bugging?

Well let’s hope they won’t wait 10 more years for the next instalment.

This film is such a SLAY. I hope they make more horror movies like this, this is easily the best horror movie I have watched in the past year. I lowkey hated A24 for popularizing the Hereditary/Midsommar formula which is cool the first few times around but it got boring really fast when a dozen of horror movies last year copied that formula.

SLAY. Ellie is so iconic already. There are many final girls in horror movies but not enough female monsters

the fact that it already topped 2013's gross :jonny6:

An absolute BORE, the opening was cute and gave promise but went south quick. A skip honestly.

Um.. I had higher expectations based on reviews and word of mouth. I enjoyed it but it was nothing new. Also expected more from the cheese grater scene considering the reactions :rip:

This was SCARY. Wow great job. I agree the mother/Ellie did a great job as the monster.

Loved this, this was camp

This was amazing, I loved it. It's a rollercoaster ride..

There was this girl in the cinema constantly laughing. I'm like, did we watch the same movie? Could be a coping mechanism because the movie was definitely not funny. Campy at times, but it's not a comedy.

... I laughed quite a bit too. like... the film is definitely darkly funny. you cannot tell me you kept a straight face during the eye scene or during some of the dialogue.

I definitely chuckled during that scene, and when the mother called her kid a parasite :fan:

The Evil Dead movies contain dark humor, as you mentioned. But they can also be very dark an viscious as well. And that girl was basically laughing during every scary scene.

My most recent cinema experiences have been so **** anyway. Gen Z crowd is annoying as ****

Just realized the mom is the same mom from the awful The Mist netflix series, props to her though because she was absolutely terrible in that but served in this.

Interesting that internationally it has already made more money than last year's Scream and will pass this year's Scream today. I feel like it had waaaaaay less hype, starpower and promo (and a smaller budget) than the Screams

I liked this one better than 2013 for two reasons -

One was that Ellie is a more memorable villain

Two is that the mean spirited lines were more specific to these characters and this movie. 2013 was generic stuff like "you'll suck ***** in hell," while this was more pointed like "mommy's with the maggots now", "I'm free now...free from all you tity sucking parasites" and "open the door like you open your legs you groupie ****"

i mean it already made its money in theaters. this is pretty much the new normal for release too , Scream 6 is already on paramount plus and that made even more money
