Evil Dead franchise | Two new movies announced

Great c*nty campy over-the-top well made horror movie. Wasn't super scary and was pretty predictable in a way but who cares it was great fun!

I thought some of the shots were amazing tbh, I can think of about 5-6 shots off the top of my head where I just thought how amazing the cinematography was, especially for that kind of horror.

Comparing it to movies like Hereditary (my fav horror of all time) doesn't make much sense cos that isn't what this was trying to achieve at all, just take it for it is imo.

Spoiler

I kinda hated the intro and outro? I have no idea what the point was, except to show that the evil never truly dies? Just don't think the movie needed it, although the hovering over the lake and the shot of the cabin were really nice.

Difference of opinions.

Still think Evil Dead Rises is in the same category as the Nun. Wasn’t scary at all.

Does everything have to be scary? It was ******* gory and camp which is all that the ED franchise is.

Also I think the title scene was the best thing I've ever seen, I got chills.

I loved this movie. The level of camp. :jonny5:

The intro felt rushed and that head looked so fake :biblio:

I mean horror is supposed to be scary and making you feel uneasy. This felt like a student project

Is it a good idea to rewatch this as a healing experience. I feel it will be less scary the second time and then my trauma will heal.

Just came back from seeing this again :jonny4: I went with a friend who hadn't seen it yet and she loved it! After seeing it two times I can confirm this is excellent and earned its place with the other iconic Evil Dead movies in the franchise. Will be hard to top for best horror movie this year. I hope we get a sequel in this universe.

An Ash and Mia crossover with all 3 would be iconic. And if they also added Ash VS Evil Dead characters like Pablo and Kelly

:jonny5: they have a lot of options

Just saw this. Love the other movies and I loved this one too. Haven't really heard any complaints about it outside of this thread so I wouldn't base my opinion on the stuff being said here. It's good fun, a good balance of gore to genuinely creepy scares, and a really good finale.

I really wish Bruce didn't retire the Ash role --- I'm still mad they ended the show on a cliffhanger!!!

Finally seeing it on Monday at an advanced screening :jonny:

Enjoyed this! It felt like a good horror movie from around 2010 and I respect that. Horror fans have been eating good for sometime now.

Yes! It's really hard to avoid spoilers (I accidentally saw a still of a major spoiler :deadbanana4:). I wonder why the movie is delayed here. Iirc it happened with No Way Home, too. Our Country is such a flop sometimes :coffee2:

I think they had to wait after the holy week to start promo because you know how the conservative Catholics get :skull:

And promo usually stars 1 month before the actual showing date :skull:

We didn’t even get Beau is Afraid :emofish:

lol this was so ridiculous. i was in the cinema GAGGED hdjksjfsdkjf.

I still prefer the 2013 ED rehash though, but that's a high personal bar for moi !!

Went to see this on Thursday and was looking forward to it as the 2013 film was great. I felt like there was something missing, the opening was pretty tame was expecting something more, usually in the evil dead they are more filthy mouthed 😂

I was fun, I felt like they got away too easy though tbh at the end

Bitchhhhhhh! This was most fun I’ve had at the cinema in while

Watched this last night. I went in expecting a terrible mess ngl but I really enjoyed it. :jonnycat:

It was very predictable but I was cackling throughout the entire film. :dies: Far from being one of the best horror movies ever, but I thought it had a good balance of gore and camp. The cinematography and camera work were excelleeeeent as well.
