Queen of Pop effortlessly inside top 10 and #1 in pure sales with a compilation of ancient remixes

moment-whitney.gif

Seasonal acts with local, forgotten, discounted and chart manipulated catalogues can't relate me fears. Btw, that Camp Rock girl or whatever she names herself nowadays rightfully bombing, we love to see it.

Halsey is a pop artist. She’s been a pop artist from day one. She had an “alternative” come up because she was attached to the Lorde/tumblr aesthetic that was seen as “alt” by mainstream standards, but that was the beginning of a new pop sound era. Since Hopeless Fountain Kingdom she’s been 100% a pop artist, and a mostly GP carried one too with her big hits, so yeah doing 98k with an alternative/industrial record was impressive and a fair comparison to the alternative rock move that Demi has made - and the later has an arguably larger fanbase online going for them. H. had the advantage of coming from a strong era.

As I said, there is no comparison. Halsey's got bigger hits than Demi so she's gonna attract more attention fron the GP. Also, it was Halsey's fourth album, this one is Demi's eighth

So happy to see Bey this stable, quality always wins! :clap3: Madonna's album selling power is still insane, she's debuting a remix album in the Top 10, over 40 years into her immaculate career.

Demi's numbers are cuter than I expected tbh :gaycat4: not really a fan of the album, but I love seeing Demetria win! For the fact this era went under the radar, it's doing very cute, thanks to her dedicated fanbase.

Madonna, her power! :clap3:

Shame she's not #1 cause she should be technically of her pure sales.

Madonna top 10 with those old remixes :jonny6:

Huge numbers for Madonna across the globe it looks like with an album of old remixes.

This is great for her she's actually challenging for #1 in markets.

It’s 2022 where SPS matters, Madonna’s remix album is absolutely not bigger than Bad Bunny’s this week so should not be #1 due to outdated pure sales

But yes, great numbers for the Queen of Pop.

Girl on which planet was Bam Bam a "global smash"? :rip: :dies:

OT: This really ain't that bad, it's in line with Charli & Avril which she feels totally in line with these days.

This is without any charting hit, no major playlisting, no radio support and after a complete change in sound and visual presentation.

finally some healthy opinion :)

It's 2022. Demi stopped being a 'major star' a long ago :rip:

Also, Demi didn't have a #1 single in her last era like Camila did so the expectations for this one were obviously lower

That is true. Demi hasn’t ever really been a major player anyways. The highest a single charted was #6 and I think there were three others in the lower top 10? I mean everyone else got to the top 5. I think Demi has sabotaged her own career tbh. With all the personality disorders and not knowing who tf she is and the drug issues, many just don’t look at a role model in her. I used to think Demi was alright. But then she pulled these same songs out of her ass and then this whole let’s follow the trend so I’ll not be a sex, I’ll not have a name, I’ll just be different or have the same issues all the rest do. That’s just what is being presented out here. And many don’t like it. Same with Sam smith.

And on top of that the OD obviously already hurt her career. We all know what the GP think of drug issues and specifically ODs (sadly).. And since 2018 when it happened, a career low was bound to happen in the upcoming era. Demi was doomed. Then the cherry on top was the froyo drama between dwtd era and holy **** era. Then coming out as non-binary. So I don't know what people expected. Anything above 30k is kinda surprising.

If the OD didn't happen then the dwtd era would've been huge after the TMYLM era and if the froyo drama/other stuff didn't happen, then the holy **** era could've been of decent success.

DANGEROUS TIES 21 WITH 84 TOP 10 WEEKS

When the album-chart numbers are tallied and put in the record book today, Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Mercury) will be tied with Adele's 21 (XL) for most non-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 in the modern era.

The record is 84 weeks, which 21 set in 2015. Dangerous has spent all but one of the previous 85 weeks in the Top 10; 21 needed 252 weeks to hit the milestone. The one chart week Dangerous fell out of the Top 10 was that of 12/23/21, when the popularity of Christmas albums by Nat King Cole and Phil Spector pushed it to #12.

The album has spent 63 weeks in the Top 5 and 10 weeks at #1. It has also been the #1 Country album for 71 non-consecutive weeks, breaking the 50-week record previously held by Luke Combs’ This One’s for You and Shania Twain’s Come on Over.

The ATD for Dangerous: The Double Album is just under 5.83m; it has been streamed on demand nearly 7.4b times, with 6.75b coming via DSPs.

“Heartless” is the album’s most-consumed song, having been streamed more than 882m times to give it 6.5m in song activity. “More Than My Hometown,” “Cover Me Up” and “Wasted on You” have racked up song activity of more than 4m units apiece.

The record Dangerous is setting is for the modern era—the period that started 5/25/91, when actual unit counts or their equivalents began to determine chart rankings. The all-time record holder is the 1956 original cast recording of My Fair Lady, which logged a remarkable 173 weeks in the Top 10. So, with a little bit of luck…
