Agreed. I feel like she’s just desperate to get out of the contract that numbers don’t matter to her right now. Additionally, she will not gain a lot of revenue from this album based on her contract. I just hope she makes smarter decisions with the next label she’ll be apart of

With her industry connections and experience, I would very surprised if she ends up in another **** record deal. Let's hope Bey guides her and offers her legal team to assist because chile :rip:

expected this messy first week for Megan, why did they think she'll good with basically a surprise release? this era rollout was terriboo :rip:

I called it! And I’m sorry but 40k is inexcusable, especially this early on in your career.

How were y’all expecting better from Meg? This album did not have a good roll out at all. It was very rushed. Announced the day of and she barely did anything pre release to promote it. This was the last album under that terrible label. I did not expect it to smash.

Both Charlie XCX and Avril opened with 30k sells and both of them haven't had hits in almost decade. So I certainly expected Megan to outdo with considerable margin, not just 10k ahead. Even without hit, this is low since she has been news, very active and goes viral on regular basis unlike Charlie, Avril.

Expected more from the woman who was sending the mega solo smash Savage into the top 10 before the remix

Where does Megan really go from here? That's the MAIN question.

I’m torn.  Because given the circumstance, she did well.

But I kinda agree w/ you to a degree, that she still could’ve done better with the rollout.  Like…with all the good songs she had, why “Sweetest Pie” and “Pressurelicious” being released? :rip:   All that radio promo with SP wasted on a mid song.

So, yea…some of it is on the label situation. But some of these singles were misses, which I can’t blame the label for that.

Overall, she can prob still recover though.

Damn Meg :doc: I don't know why they didn't push for a longer rollout with at least one hit out to support the album campaign. No physicals shipped to stores (besides her website) or vinyl available either. What a mess.

She's not in a place where she can surprise drop music but oh well, at least it's getting great reviews.

She’s not in a good place with her label so i’m sure most of this is out of her control. At this point all she wanted was to fulfill her current contract

You're underestimating the importance of having the time to build a solid fanbase.

it is when you look at all her main competition.

Her numbers are expected given the circumstances though.

It still doesn't negate the fact that she's, in my opinion, ticking backwards and its frustrating because I love her

Damn those are awful numbers for Megan :deadbanana2: I thought she was gonna do 80K

Her successes have been flukes. Her two hits are collaborations while her solo attempts have been abysmal flops.

But Megan was barely doing any numbers when she had hits. It's the same situation as Lizzo. They are bigger celebrities than they are artists and they don't really have a base. While Charli and Avril have a very dedicated cult following.

Yeah I can tell she don't have solid fanbase/cult following, but thats a bad thing in itself. After her success in 2020 and media coverage, she should have been able to cultivate a solid fanbase. If it hadn't happen by now, it will likely not happen in future again. And her numbers will consistently be on low end.

"Sweetest Pie" was #5 on pop radio, they probably figured that was as good as they were gonna get

Diminishing returns. This indicates her hype is over. But she seems to be a networking queen so I think she will still remain visible in the media/awards/late night/etc.

Listened to Traumazine. It's a very good album. Poor Meg, she's over. :'(

The thing is Megan has never been huge, she had Savage and WAP. To me, people fall into a habit of projecting people onto their peers even though they're on a complete different trajectory. Good News did less than half of Invasion of Privacy. So if that's considered her competition I don't think she's ever been competing. It'd be like expecting Miley to achieve Ariana numbers, or expecting Rihanna to achieve Taylor numbers.

It'd be a shame if she peaked already but also feel like Megan's real authentic sound isn't something I expect to be topping BB100 on a frequent basis. She just needs to be consistent with quality and she'll build a solid fanbase to support her.

The dramatics. She is far from over. She was trying to get out her contract I doubt she care much. She needs to make smarter decisions from now on. Choose a great label and team that will help her build a solid fanbase.

her label got her a dua lipa collab AND paid for what must have been extremely expensive video yet they're to blame for her flopping?
