Lord Of Countdown Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The song just ain't it, melody is weird
motomami Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The ending... y'all were not exaggerating lmfao. Hoping it's leading into the next track somehow but still amazing

Very strong The only thing I hate about this (and the other two singles as well) is how short it is These rock-influenced songs would lend itself SO well for long intros, explosive bridges and good outros. Plastic Hearts kinda has the same problem and it's just a waste of potential Thissss! I know my fellow Lovatics are sick of hearing me say "bRiDgE!!! " every other post but everything you said is spot on and Demi always has fantastic bridges with lots of build-up. Hoping some of the longer songs on the album deliver!

Not to detract anyone's work, but three of those writers are the producers so I guess they added more into the musical arrangements rather than the lyrics

Soobin Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 Verified annotations/lyrics by Demi are up on 29's Genius page

BrokenMachine Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 It's the streaming era, commercial songs of 2 minutes long are the norm now sadly

youreyesgocold Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I haven’t been following the lead up to this track but I’m confused. Can someone spill the tea? I just listened to it after getting a notification from apple music that a song from the album dropped. I haven’t really read through the thread but immediately it was very clear this was about Wilmer. I’m a bit taken aback though because I thought they had a good relationship and he continued to support Demi through their relapse after their breakup, didn’t he??? So is this song just about Demi growing and realizing it was an example of grooming and awful in hindsight? Or has Demi been vocal about it being an awful relationship for some time? I didn’t know there was any bad blood. Anyways, this song has a powerful message and I like it, except for the abrupt ending. Substance > 29 >>>> SOMT

This is exactly what's happened. She's been talking about how she's realized how wrong it was to date such older men since last year.
Soobin Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 The abrupt ending serves the majority of BP's title tracks which force you to listen again and again cause you're ungratified, but then the song continues to grow like a snowball effect and it gets better the more you play it!!!! @Rob_Matteo @WeFoundWill

It’s very important young people hear from someone who has been through this experience - whether good or bad. Just because it doesn’t feel dangerous or scary to you doesn’t mean there’s nothing wrong with it
