glamrock<3 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 As a fan, I'm very proud of her achieving her seventh number one album and knowing I've contributed to her first week sales.. but, I'm saddened to hear that she's the first woman to have a #1 album this year (it's giving 2013 teas ).

Even though, Adele and Taylor still sell very well.. it's half of what they use to sell (due to the current consumer market). Edited August 8, 2022 by glamrock<3

I mean it's a side project for a reason? Although, I really liked The Gift
Dreajae Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 I'm very concerned about people bringing up Taylor in this thread. Taylor is huge. But so is Bey. Their lanes don't overlap at all. It's literally Adele, Taylor and Bey (and Rihanna) with a heavy footprint on today's music landscape. Bey just happens to be the oldest which is a distinctive accomplishment. Come on.
Bey_Rihstan Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 332k is amazing for anybody but Beyonce is a black woman in her 40's that served that with 0 performances, 0 visuals, a streaming debut & in a collapsing market for pure sales...25 years in
SwiftLover Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Not more than double the streams of the album ATRL wouldn’t shut up about. Around the same pure sales in a worse sales climate without bundles. A certain group of haters LOST big time

That kind of longevity is only reserved for a few people in history. Michael, Madonna, and now Beyoncé Hell even Hard Candy by Madonna (1983-2008, 25 years later) sold only 280k. Beyoncé never opened below 300k in her 25 year career. Beyoncé's only sub-300k OW were the Writings on the Wall (200k) and Destiny's Child. Survivor (700k) - DiL (300k) - Destiny Fulfilled (500k) - BDay (550k) - IASF (500k) - 4 (300k) - ST (600k, 3 days) - LEM (500k) - ACT I. (350K)

Kool_Aid_King Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 With minimal promo, one vinyl & a leak. The queen. The only woman to have her first 7 albums go #1

I think being able to focus on the auditory experience has helped me appreciate the album more.
