Hi!

I made a thread about skincare products a couple months ago and some members noted the OG skincare thread on OLDTRL didn't get ported over, so like a phoenix, here we are.

The skincare thread, a place to discuss:

  • Product Recommendations (hOlY gRaILs)
  • Skincare help/tips
  • Routines
  • Skinfluencer content

Lets discuss~

I highly recommend this moisturizer by farmacy.

It's a little bougie, but I swear to god it changed my life and I don't think I can try anything else.

Still looking for the perfect cleanser, but I have no plans on ever getting anything else other than this for a moisturizer. I've tried quite a few different moisturizers trying to find the perfect one - and the results of this one are quite literally, other worldly. :deadbanana2: It's like butter when applied to the face, makes your face feel like the softest skin you've ever touched, and it has the warmest but mild scent of honey that is so relaxing and yummy.

girl, im scared to even try retinol.

i'll stick with exfoliating twice a week. maybe some day... i don't really suffer from acne though - just major blackheads

At night before I go to sleep, my routine is to wash my face with Cetaphil Gentle cleanser without water. After washing my face, I gently pat it dry with a towel.

I also use prescribed ketoconazole cream on my nose. It helps with dry skin.

I know, thats what everyone says. But i heard you can have bad reactions to it/can turn your face into a brillow pad.

I was once fearless about putting whatever on my face (lol) but after I had my first tomato reaction to burts bees micellar water, I'm a little ***** going outside the basics.

Anyways what do you suggest? Like a retinol serum?

I tried cerave/drugstore a lot over the last few years trying to get myself on a regular skincare regimen but i always ended up dropping it/not committing.  Its just so boring. I need the drama, the pizazz, the only way I was able to actually commit to a routine was getting cute korean products that looked cool at first, and thats when i finally started looking into ingredients and reviews and such.

Tret changed my life, I STAN ?

4 months in and my skin is almost flaw-free (from being kinda dodge) :gaycat1:

Finally, a thread where my knowledge can shine!

I keep a pretty simple routine. I use a drugstore dupe of the CeraVe cream as my primary moisturizer, wash my face using a Dove bar (it's gentle enough for your face), and use prescription tret. For daytime I use a Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid + Peptides serum, and SPF 50+. I've been really wanting to invest in some Asian beauty sunscreens for the newer UV filters. Thinking of getting this to try:

Day:

Eucerin Hydrating Gel Cleanser

The Ordinary Buffet

Eucerin SPF 50+ (Euro formulation- the US ones have lesser ingredients)

:gaycat1:

Night:

Eucerin Hydrating Gel Cleanser

Tretinoin + Clindamycin

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizer

When I’m going somewhere nice I’ll use a Vitamin C serum for the glow.

Nnnn, that’s funny you say that because I tried Rihanna’s Fenty Skin line when it came out on preorders(especially the hyped up fatty water pore refining toner serum) and that serum made me break out more with my oily ass skin, so I went back to using Cerave and I love how monotonous it is to do that 10 minute skin care routine. I actually own a innisfree pore clay mask from sephora that was like 60.)

Whenever I oversleep, it’s so fast to do this especially when you have to get to work in 30 minutes and you live 10 minutes away.

Any recommendations for a moisturizer for very oily + acne prone skin ?

I've recently found the best exfoliating mask with Kiehl's Earth Clay Mask and it really clears the pores. Before that, I used Paula's Choice liquid exfoliator but it wasn't clearing the pores for me.

I'm over skincare products tbh, everything makes me break out because my skin gets irritated so easily. I mostly just use suncreen these days when I'm out for longer than 10 minutes, and some under-eye caffeine serum, and that's it.

The skin routine thread from a while back inspired me to finally add more steps to my skin routine and I haven’t looked back since. Would like to add more to my night routine tho. :gaycat6: Also what do you ladies recommend for using under the eyes?

CeraVe and Cetaphil have done WONDERS for my skin. They’re MSCG (Main Skin Care Girls) :wanda:

Skinmedica Retinol 1% is life changing. People are always shook by my skin and it’s because of that product. It’s not cheap but you can’t put a price on the stuff you use on your face:fan:
