Not surprised, New York City is nasty

Well the samples are from Hudson Valley county, not NYC. Next time click on the link at least.

It has to be spreading among unvaccinated people, no? That false safety those people felt because most people were vaccinated. Oh well, good luck with that paralysis :cm:

I’m ignorant about polio, admittedly. How does it spread?

No one should actually care about this bc:

Quote

Nationally, 92.6% of people receive the full course of polio vaccination by age 2. In Rockland County, that number is 60.5%.

As you can see, with almost 40% of a local population not being vaccinated for this, there will always be a moderate risk for the unvaccinated to contract polio.

And...

If you are vaccinated against polio, you don’t need to do anything right now. And you probably are: In California, the polio vaccine is required for anyone attending public school or entering childcare.

Quote

The county experienced a measles outbreak in 2018 and 2019, which sickened more than 300 people.

CNN reported at the time that 91% of the cases were in people who weren’t vaccinated or had no record of being vaccinated.

The area is home to a large Orthodox Jewish population, which is one of the insular groups that has been targeted by the anti-vaccine movement.

Make sense now?

TLDR: Vaccines are good, smart people get them.  The end.

Isn’t everyone there vaccinated??

Probably being spread by people who weren’t vaccinated for it.

Most people are vaccinated so this is fine. We eradicated it but the new generation of know-it-all mothers are putting their own children at risk by not vaccinating them
