discussion How would you set up the New DC Cinematic Universe

WB Discovery is re-vamping DC cinematic pictures moving forward. With New Executives confirming they are re-building the DCEU with a fresh slate after 2023. The list of Amber Heard’s Aquaman 2, Ezra Miller Flash, Canceled Batgirl, Znyder Controversy, and confusion of Henry Cavill’s Superman future has fans divided. How would you fix the DC films future if you were given the executive powers?

1) Cancel The Flash

I’d continue with Battinson’s franchise, and then start a new slate of films with a Justice League movie that has all of the characters sans Batman, and just keep the Batman universe it’s own thing, and base the Justice League and Superman/Wonder Woman/Flash et al off of the Justice League animated series feel and vibe. Everything Snyder did needs to go. Once these last vestiges of the DCEU are finished it needs to be forgotten, it was a failed experiment.

They need to refilm The Flash without Ezra in it and use it as a launching point. Flashpoint completely rebooted the comics for DC and they could use this as a way to completely redo the DCEU. Gal’s Wonder Woman and Maybe Henry’s Superman could stay. Battinson could be retconned as the new main Batman due to Flashpoint and the rest could be completely recast and revamped. I don’t mind Jason Momoa as Aquaman or any of the Suicide Squad so they could stick around but you could completely rewrite everyone else’s history.

If Miller wasn’t a problematic creep I’d use Flashpoint to establish the multiverse, jump into Earth-2, and basically restart the whole universe using Battinson, Momoa, and Gunn’s Suicide Squad. But since that’s not happening, just soft reboot Battinson, Momoa, Robbie and Cena in a new timeline and start from there.

That way you can get stablished characters without re doing the whole “origin” thing for the trinity.

Let Gal and Patty finished their Wonder Woman trilogy and introduce a Wonder Woman.

Make a live action Green Lantern movie with John Stewart and have Ryan Reynold make a cameo.

 

Have Synder’s Justice League be a main event trilogy with Grant Gustin as The Flash, a new actress as a new Wonder Woman, Henry’s Superman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and Ben Afflick’s Batman.

 

Complete the Titans HBO series and film a big budget Titans movie.

Oh so many possibilities, I would be very  happy if we end up with a big Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame type of event for DC like Crisis on infinite earths: Part 1&2 I would love to see all the characters get to work and met each other like Harley or Peacemaker working with the JL and others.

And damn that’s leaving a lot of characters like Dr Fate and Hawkman, WW and others sidelined, they have a lot of potential they just need to streamline all and focus on a main goal and villain.

The way it is such a huge cluster**** rn I don't even know. I think if I was in charge I'd hire good writers to focus on doing a proper Man of Steel sequel with Henry (or recast if he's truly the problem...), a well written third installment for Wonder Woman and then set up a new Justice League film. Recast Flash. Do a proper movie with Margot's Harley and Poison Ivy/Catwoman. It honestly shouldn't be this hard

Use The Flash movie as a way to completely wipe out every existing DCEU storyline and character to start brand new; film new scenes if they need to. No need to save anything from the previous iteration of the DCUE because it'd always remind people of how messy it was and would bring down the new one as well. Cast a new Justice League and do solo movies for all of them, starting small then gradually connecting the dots (just as MCU did before the first Avengers movie), then go on from there.

 

Pattinson's Batman and Phoenix's Joker can continue to exist in their own timeline that was never connected to the main DCEU anyway.

Just focus on Gotham City Universe, so Batman, The Joker, Catwoman and The Suicide Squad

Upcoming films:
Black Adam - my guess is that this barely breaks even, make no further announcements until Shazam: Fury of the Gods releases 
Shazam: Fury of the Gods - hope it outgrosses the first film and becomes a success, if it isn't a success scrap the Black Adam/Shazam franchise completely, if Shazam is a success continue forward with a Black Adam sequel and build that connection
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - release the film without any issue, if the gross is satisfying greenlight Aquaman 3
Blue Beetle - release as planned and see what the result is, if successful it could be another viable franchise to build, if it bombs just make it a one off
The Flash - move the release after Blue Beetle, the price tag on this makes it an inevitable release, proceed with that but also make adjustments to make the end of the DCEU


DCEU:
Wonder Woman -  fire Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins, reboot
Superman - fire Henry Cavill (unfortunately a sacrifice has to be made for the future of the franchise), reboot
Flash - fire Ezra Miller, reboot
Aquaman - continue franchise, keep Jason Momoa
DCEU Batman - stop with the mess of having three Batman actors and fire Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, end it
Cyborg - Ray Fisher is clearly OUT 
Snyder - never let him work on a DC movie again
Suicide Squad - keep Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and make sure that James Gunn is secured 

Offshoots:
Reeves & Pattinson Batman - shift this to be the main Batman franchise, make sure Batman 2 is locked down
Phoenix Joker - continue as normal with Joker 2, keep this as its own thing

Why do they need to use The Flash to reboot the universe? Just start from scratch period, with no attachment to what came before.

It was so easy to fix:

 

-I'd change the end of The Flash. Barry ending in Neo-Gotham meaning a Batman Beyond movie is coming (Keaton is PERFECT for that).

-Build the Batfamily. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, Batwoman and Batman Beyond. Terry McGinnis becoming the main Batman of the Justice League. Ending Keaton's arc with a Gotham Knights movie.

-New Superman from the new universe. A big movie with Supergirl & Superman.

-Keep introducing JL members like Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, etc.

-Aquaman and Wonder Woman signing for 2 more movies and expanding their worlds with Wonder Girl, Aqualad, an Amazons movie, Nubia, etc.

-Star building other teams like Titans, JL Dark and more Suicide Squad.

 

In the end, you have 2 (maybe 3) main earths.

 

-Pattinson's Batman for those who like that dark, grounded, realistic and adult style. A pentalogy for him with its spin-offs.

 

-The main DCEU for those who like metahumans, fantasy, more family friendly style like Marvel.

 

-Else worlds for movies that are not connected to either like Joker.

Follow the perfect blueprint laid out by the “Justice League” animated series. Pick the best episodes and turn them into live action movies and you’re good to go.

Keaton is essential. They need a Batman for the DCEU to play off of the other characters. They should have a contrast to Pattinson. The announcement of Keaton’s return nearly broke the internet. They couldn’t have asked for bigger publicity, not to mention that Keaton is at the top of his game winning award after award. He brings prestige. They should do a Batman Beyond film. People have been screaming for that for years. 
 

Everything else is up in the air. I still think it’s a win-win for them thinking outside the box and doing films like Joker, set in their own universes. DC needs to stop trying to compete with Marvel. Marvel is its own thing. However, multiverses are all the rage now. DC SHOULD be doing that but be flexible with it.

Completely start over in 2023 with no Snyderverse leads attached bar Momoa. Pattinson as DCEU Batman.
 

Re-cast Superman and Wonder Woman and launch those origin movies then do Justice League again with core four by years’ end after Batman’s had the sequel.

Release everything that's already filmed so at least they'll get some funding for future films. 

 

They should make standalone films first, then introduce characters that likely on the same universe. 

 

For example, The Batman universe should introduce Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl in future films. 

 

Green Lantern should introduce Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, and other alien superheroes in its own universe. 

 

Superman should have Supergirl, Booster Gold, and other heroes living in the same universe. 

 

Then after 10 to 15 years of building, The Flash should have its Flashpoint storyline to connect these universes.

As a user mentioned above I would just copy that Flash scene to start over a whole new universe. Keep Jason, Jurnee, Sasha, Leslie, and maybe Margot in their respective roles and recast everyone else. The great thing about that idea is that technically they don't even need Ezra to film it, just get a stand in and shoot from behind and boom. 

 

But this is WB so that won't happen.
