discussion Batgirl movies shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery

Poor Michael Keaton. First his scene(s) in the Aquaman 2 movie are being replaced with Ben Affleck's Batman, now the Batgirl movie in which he was set to appear in a couple of scenes was shelved and The Flash is in danger of being cancelled too.

You're not helping. lol Catwoman is considered the worst comic book movie in the history of cinema. Halle wasn't playing Selina Kyle. It wasn't Batman's Catwoman and was a massive flop at the box office, which furthers the narrative, "go woke, go broke".

They knew Erza Miller wasn't s*** but they started filming his movie anyways. They'd wasted $30 million on a Game of Thrones prequel episode only to not use it. Now this???

I do agree that they’re dead though. They’ll continue to have successful solo outings and some will even get sequels, but as far as the DCEU, they’re all over the place and don’t know what they want to do. You mean The Batman? Warner Bros considers it a minor success. Their shareholders were expecting a billion dollar gross and it cost millions to promote which wasn't included in the budget that was made public. This is why the old crew was shown the door and this new guy is getting rid of everything, including everything seen as "woke". Netflix is doing the same thing after their company is facing financial ruin. We can probably expect less comic book movies and studios playing it safe for the time being. There's a feeling that Marvel and DC movies have hit their peak and the public is getting tired of them. Warner Bros Discovery is also now shutting down its HBO Max plans. They're instead going back to theatrical, so all those planned HBO Batman shows and films are now being taken off the table. I get the feeling that this new guy is going to make things even worse and then he, too, will be shown the door. None of this bodes well for fans and DC Comics is also about to go under. They don't make a profit. They have been hanging on thanks to Warner Bros footing the bill seeing them as promotion for the films. Now that the films are going to be cut back, DC is receiving pink slips. They're another one that people are blaming the decline on its "woke" philosophy. Things like the entire DC Pride Month will all issues gay themed and making characters LGBT has really caused a backlash. However, since WB basically used them for promotion, it was okay. Now they're in serious trouble with Warner Bros pulling the plug left and right. It's really sad what's going on. We're basically seeing the ushering in of a new conservative era both socially and politically.

This honestly for the best. The new ceo is clearly looking at every single project and trying too see what will work in the next 5 years or not. Robert Pattinson the Batman and Joaquin Phoenix the joker was a massive success. If they have to start over for dc it will be those movies. The DCEU is done and Snyder fans need to move on. Let’s hope at least Henry cavil comeback as man of steel 2 still.

I assume this is Marvel's fault too then? Or is just corporate consolidation / disfunction?

HBO is rumored to be folding into Discovery Plus and Batgirl no longer had a home l, served no purpose, and they didn’t want to release it theatrically. They’re writing the entire thing off for taxes.
