Because Ukraine has a certain group of people of a certain color & Africa has another group of people that are a different color.

US sent weapons to pretty much everyone under the sun at this point. It's worth to mention that Ukraine had to "earn it" from the West after being told initially that it's too late and that Kyiv will be overthrown within the first days.

because Ukraine's war involves a nuclear superpower that also happens to be one of the biggest adversaries of the west invading a sovereign country that supplies major quantities of agricultural product and could foreshadow further invasions in the baltics or elsewhere if Ukraine loses :rip:

You all need to get your head out of your asses and stop distilling a highly consequential war into a game of identity politics.  MAJOR famine is literally coming to Africa and the Middle East later this year in part because of Ukraine's inability to export, so the Africans you claim to care about certainly won't be thinking that this war is inconsequential. A single worm for a brain

and not to mention that europe will be FREEZING this winter unless they're able to haul ass and figure something out. Germany's already reactivating coal power plants out of fear that not only will they freeze their asses off this winter, but also for fear that industry that depends on gas will collapse. If Germany collapses then it's a domino effect. Is that enough for you

It’s certainly interesting when Africa currently has ~700k people in forced slavery and human trafficking right now :giraffe: But goes to show that people really don’t care about it when it’s black on black.

Why do y'all only bring up these conflicts when talking about Ukraine?

Because we see the injustice. Anything else?

They do matter and still get some coverage, but obviously they're not going to make their way into the public awareness nearly as much if they're not directly affecting people outside of Africa the way that Ukraine's war is at the moment

If you see the injustice then why did you only start speaking up about them when the war in Ukraine happened? And why do y'all only bring it up to detract attention away from Ukraine? Feels exploitative to me.

Also, "Africa" feels like such a generalizing term for such a geographically diverse continent. :rip:

Inch resting that this user is continuing this narrative, but doesn't mention any of the conflicts taking place in Africa. Not to mention that Russia itself is at the root of many of the issues various African countries are facing. Russia's Wagner Group has its hands all over the civil war taking place in Central African Republic, are expanding into Sudan, and are massacring people in Mali. And now there is about to be a food shortage because Russia keeps bombing and blocking Ukrainian ports from exporting grain.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/4/23/russia-putin-wagner-group-mercenaries-africa

So, if you actually care about people living in African countries (outside of using them as a political pawn on ATRL of all places :skull:), it's in your best interest to support Ukraine against Russia. Feel free to make your own threads about what's happening in African countries and keep us informed, though.

Because as already mentioned, simply the majority of the world doesn't give a **** about the sub-human and uncivilized people of Africa (and Palestine, Yemen, Uyghur, etc) except for 1-2 days when something major happens and they see it on social media.

The same people will scream "whataboutism!!!" if you bring it up when it is simply highlighting the double standards and exposing the white supremacy at play. Not with the purpose of escalating war, but with a firm demand for justice for the many and replicating the support. And that is not whataboutism.

Haitians (Haiti isn't in Africa but is a black country) were WHIPPED at the border by Border Control on horseback,

Meanwhile you can "sponsor" a Ukrainian family as an American, hassle-free, Zelensky and Co. are doing Vogue photoshoots, etc.

You're DUMB and DENSE if you can't see the double standards at play, sorry. :biblio:

This is BS. :biblio:

The only reason the US is fighting a proxy war in Ukraine is bc of NATO politics (which is an alliance of white, European countries).

Use your head.

African conflicts are mostly between them and they've been going on since the last century. The Ukraine war is waged by a Western power and is a threat to the stability of Europe and has an outsized impact on the global economy.

France got invoked in Mali and the U.S got involved in Libya as well  as Somalia back in the 90’s. Neither turned out good. The US got involved in Viet Nam and Korea as well. It doesn’t ever go over well.  Why the hell do you even want us too anyways? We’re only giving aid and weapons to Ukraine. Who’s to say that that won’t blow up in our face as well.
