Turkey

Putin praised Erdogan for mediating talks on export of grain from Ukraine. Erdogan had brokered a deal whereby grain can leave the ports if the ships are independently inspected for armaments.

Disagreements with Turkey

Syria:

-Turkey wanted to intervene in Northern Syria. Exploiting Putin's distraction in Ukraine, Turkey said they will launch a military incursion into Northern Syria to construct a buffer zone 30 km from Turkey and Syria's border.

-Russia on the other hand is working with Assad to create a Syrian presence in the border.

-Iran said it would be a detriment to the region.

Iran

-Russia and Iran also agreed to sign a long-term memorandum of understanding to cooperate over $40bn (£33bn) worth of oil contracts.

-He said Russia and Iran needed to work together gradually to reduce the power of the dollar.

-Ayatollah Khamenei said war is harsh and difficult but for Ukraine - the other side would have caused the war on its own initiative if Russia had not interevened

I don’t believe turkey is a true ally of Russia in a tight situation they will choose US/EU over Russia if war broke out between territories.

Three dictatorships, no surprises there. Hopefully Erdocunt gets ousted in free elections next year. It's so pathetic how Italy ran to become Turkey's BFF as soon as Russia became indefensible.

Turkey is not joining forces with Russia :deadbanana: they hate each other and Erdogan is looking for a tiny bit of economic success among the upcoming election. Iran was reduced to a shithole with the sanctions (which is a tragedy in itself) and Russia is on the same trajectory

Yes Turkey and Russia are at logger heads over Syria. But at least Turkey is mediating the grain exports.

Why have I literally never seen you in any other thread unless Turkey or Azerbaijan are brought up? :deadbanana2:

The way Turkey keeps playing both sides and still ends up winning everytime. :biblio:
