MLD's HAC Style Weekly Chart - 7/24/2022

Hello everyone. So, it's been over a year since I've last done a countdown. My previous countdown was more of a daily one, and life has changed a lot in the past year. I've actually struggled a LOT mentally but I'm working on staying strong. I decided that it was time to get back into doing a countdown of sorts, but with changes. Music has been one of my coping mechanisms and now that I have stronger wi-fi again I've decided that to return to YTT. Here are the changes:

1. It will be weekly instead of daily this time. This puts less stress on me and allows me a week to decide where things will chart

2. Old songs and new songs can both chart - kind of like a HAC station (but a lot less crappy)

3. The Billboard rule of 20 weeks below #50 will be applied, but not the superrecurrent rule.

Without further ado, here is the first chart.

Yeah a decent bit. Started following them around 8 Letters. A lot of their early stuff is a bit too forgettable and average though but their Good Times and Bad Ones album is really good IMO and I was really enjoying their input more consistently the last couple years. I'm really sad that because of their business issues they have to now go on hiatus :(

As we get back into the swing of things, the chart is going to be a bit chaotic (more chaotic than Billboard though so I'm fine with that). Most of the older songs fell off the chart as new songs were added to my library. This resulted in a major shift with gains and losers as well. The biggest gain comes with Hold My Hand by Lady Gaga, which surges to #1 and will likely hold in the Top 10 for awhile. It's time at #1 could be short though because right behind it debuting at #2 is SUBSTANCE by Demi Lovato, which blasts on with some major momentum behind them. The Top 10 also saw a few other breakthroughs with 21 Reasons by Nathan Dawe & Ella Henderson at #7, Dance Again by Samantha Jade at #8 and So Good by Halsey at #9. Also gaining in the Top 10 is Bois Lie by Avril Lavigne &  Machine Gun Kelly at #3. Last week's Top 3 slid into the Top 6, with Boyfriend by Dove Cameron holding the most steady only sliding one spot to #4. Last week's #1, How Do You Love Somebody by Why Don't We falls to #5 and SKIN OF MY TEETH by Demi Lovato slides to #6. Rounding out the Top 10 is maybe by Machine Gun Kelly & Bring Me The Horizon sliding to #10. It's future is uncertain as it could either hold steady or fall off quick, we will see.

As for the rest of the chart, we will start with all the songs that lost this week, the ones falling 10 spots or more being highlighted here. So, starting from the bottom up: Ghost by Justin Bieber hit #47, The Motto by Tiesto & Ava Max hit #45, FU by Avril Lavigne hit #44, Misery Business by Paramore falls to #43, Easy On Me by Adele gets nuked to #38, When I'm Gone by Alesso & Katy Perry disappears to #35, Love Sux by Avril Lavigne slid to #32, Message In a Bottle by Taylor Swift crashed to #30, Love It When You Hate Me by Avril Lavigne & Blackbear hit #29 and to finish things off, When You're Gone by Shawn Mendes hit #25 and Western Wind by Carly Rae Jepsen dissipated to #24.

Now when we look at the gains, I already mentioned the Top 10 gains. So outside of that, only three notable ones with Big Energy by Latto surging to #17, That's What I Want by Lil Nas X surging to #18 and Bam Bam by Camila Cabello & Ed Sheeran surging huge to #19.

Of our new arrivals, I expect all of them to stay next week except for Come & Get It. With Selena Gomez's birthday occurring on Friday, I relistened to several of her songs with Come & Get It getting the most plays. Will likely be gone next week but some good nostalgia nonetheless.
