this was inevitable and will probably happen to other streaming services too if they don't have strong enough ips but i guess in netflix's case it's happening faster due to the quality of their content, their release format and the massive budget spent on movies that serve 2000s direct-to-video quality

Idg how this is happening when they had Squid Game and Stranger Things + tons of popular shows like Outer Banks, Bridgerton, You, Umbrella Academy, Sex Education, Peaky Blinders, Heartstopper etc. all quite recently.

Like how is Disney+ doing better when all it can offer are those Marvel shows that have been quite underwhelming (according to their fans)?

Being honest the current best content they have are the crime docs, they're really good at it most of time.

Thinking of cancelling my subscription for months now but those documentaries are the only reason I'm staying.

Incredible stories well presented!

In general most of the streaming services (at least in my country) are TRASH, and the biggest content creator is Netflix. Although they should stop with the forced inclusion&diversity thing. It is really off putting when it is done so forcefully.

Yes and we want original stories for them, Netflix is often using streotypes to portray them. Most of the time it is cringe and audiences agree :rip:

Fair enough, I think your original post was worded a bit messy then. I see your point but I also tend to think the narrative of 'cringe' is just a spin for actors who people are not used to seeing in roles they love. I'm not mad about more representation, but defo can respect your view when you explain it like that :rip:

Man I still can't believe they paid 200M exclusive contract to D&D (Game of Thrones doomers) and I think the only show they did was a comedy special :coffee:

I mean, they were expecting 2 million, so it's a better result. Sadie Sink's Stranger Things impact :clap3:

Children keep watching stuff like Moana, Frozen, The Incredibles non-stop and don't get tired of it. It's smth to keep em busy.

Netflix charges users in Latin America extra for sharing their passwords.

In Chile, Costa Rica and Peru, Netflix has already tested an additional cost for account sharing, but the test is now extended to Argentina, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and El Salvador.

And they wonder why we're going back to piracy.

Anyway, there really isn’t anything noteworthy on Hulu anyways, and I get HBO Max for free with my phone plan so there is no incentive for me to even try with Hulu.

Ma'am? Pen15 is literally the best show of the 21st century.

Yeah Netflix keep making bad show for the last few months, the way i keep seeing those k-dramas that no one asked for :rip: and canceling the actual and loved shows, it’s weird..

But I don’t think they’re over, they’re still the leader in tv streaming market.

Most of those k dramas are always on the top 10 of most watched, but go off. Also, most of them are only distributed by netflix, not created by them. :rip:

This is a glimpse of all of the streaming platforms future. Netflix is just 10 years ahead of the rest.

Disney+ is a new born baby, I'd be concerned if it wasn't growing. Aside from the base of kids content, it relies almost entirely of Star Wars & Marvel, like any IP both are likely to see a decline after a massive peak.

Amazon, like Netflix doesn't have many massive IPs but just piggie banks off its other more essential services

Netflix can definitely do with an improvement in quality, but it's also clear that they're finally past that massive growth phase and now need to start worrying about profitability & engagement, not just sub numbers. And in a market with lots of new entrants, they'll soon start cannabalising each other.

And they’re <5% of the population. What’s the percentage of shows with minorities on Netflix right now?

Cancel all the cheap teenage crap they’re trying so hard to push and focus on actual quality shows like they did at the beginning. People are migrating to HBO and Hulu for a reason and Disney+ is keeping Gen Z entertained with their Marvel crap. Netflix has no significant niche anymore.

Literally everything they do for shows, besides Stranger Things, is complete crap. They always find a way to ruin things. For example that Winx reboot. Millennials grew up watching Winx, why the **** would that audience want to watch a depressed teenager version of it?

They could very well be targeting the early 2000s nostalgia club, but they can't throw this ugly aesthetic that looks so sad and colorless/lifeless.
