Charli XCX - Good Ones: It’s okay until that cheap drop comes in and ruins the whole song. Does sound better on headphones cuz there’s some light quirks in the production throughout but I kinda hate it sorry ffff

Adele - Hello: For the record I’m an OAH but this has a grand feeling and makes me a bit nostalgic now, won't rank high cuz of her nasal ass voice but won’t be last!

Lizzo - About Damn Time: Somewhat cute, was obviously nothing new for her but works for what it is ig

Rihanna - Russian Roulette: I’m glad you decided to go with this one!! It’s my fave of the Rihanna singles that were still available, that thumping Massive Attack-ish beat slaps

Janet Jackson - Feedback: I’M HEAVY LIKE A FIRST DAY PERIODDDD  Loveeee, such a banger

Paramore - Misery Business: She came on this ***** mad as hell… fr because this is so angsty sjhg but in a way I adore, good choice

TWICE - Fancy: Fun and carefree energy, near their peak for sure

beabadoobee - Talk: YES WINNER!!!! One of my favorite songs of the year, just the perfect balance between distortion and lucidity, the riffs are INCREDIBLE, every line is memorable and it works so well as a short track. My #1!

WJSN - UNNATURAL: Enjoyable, pretty euphoric chorus, but probably middle of the pack at best here

Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes: Still her best tbh! Something about her vocal here just HITS, and I do get an aquatic feel from it

Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo: The handclaps and snaps make all the difference and are my favorite part of the song. It’s cute enough overall

Fei - Fantasy: Only song I didn't know before the round so I listened twice - at first I felt like it wandered around aimlessly at some points but it definitely went more from pleasant to pretty on second listen. Super easy on the ears in all aspects!

Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone: This was a grower for me, but I do unfortunately think it’s among the weaker songs here. Not really anything special imo

Shakira - Whenever Wherever: Nostalgic classic… amazing, almost too catchy

Sofia Carson - Fool's Gold: Ah this Rayeject, really loved it when it came out but stopped listening quick. Still very good!

Caroline Polachek - Door: Another one where I’m normally not a fan of the artist but have to praise the song choice. She captured the vibe of the concept remarkably well

Ciara - Goodies: Classic again! That synth is god-tier (though I feel like I would hate it if I ever spammed this nn, but great in moderation)

Confidence Man - Holiday: Um so I listened to Tilt once and found her delivery grating, it’s a little better to me now but I dunno sounds like something that would play during a middle school dance scene in a movie. Can’t really say I’m huge on that lol but it’s almost endearing I suppose

Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover: SLAPS! Another example of quality not quantity (in terms of length), she really makes those two minutes work and the production is so hard and gritty

Good Ones: spammed it over 100 times but realistically it’s just an infectious semi cheap bop and definitely not something I’d consider a career highlight. However I’ll likely rank decently anyway, maybe middling!

 

Hello: it’s a big song but I’m kind of over it and even kind of eye rolled when I saw this on the submission list? Like it’s a very uninspired choice. Probably going to tank this.

 

About Damn Time: it’s cute fun and harmless nothing more. She wasn’t annoying on this song so that’s something!

 

Russian Roulette: like god damn. She gave us DRAMA. It’s overloaded with tension and lyrically + also vocally it’s one of her best. Always been obsessed always will be.

 

Feedback: really cool song. This is how you do a banger but keep it fresh, like it’s so rhythmically interesting. I love all the experimental elements that make it so inexplicably Janet and work to all her strengths.

 

Misery Business: you knew you snatched a classic. Probably the only bad thing about this song is that it invented Olivia Rodrigo.

 

Fancy:  they snapped so hard. An explosion of infectious fun.

 

Talk: I like it! Kind of!
 

Unnatural: yup yup!!

 

Ocean Eyes: it’s pretty. Idk I don’t really care for it though? One of her less interesting songs for sure. I never really connected with its simplicity like everyone else did. 

Peek-A-Boo: bop yeh… but well to be honest the instrumental is kind of annoying. 
 

Fantasy: vibing hard! Really nice.

 

Glad He’s Gone: the main hook was always so lifeless and annoying to me and there’s barely anything interesting here. Like the energy is just FLAT. Kinda mad a Tove Lo spot was used on this tbh. Maybe I’m exaggerating a little but in the context of the group this ain’t cutting it.

 

Whenever, Wherever: absolutely colossal and majorly nostalgic SMASH! I miss being like 5 and shaking my booty to this song.

 

Fool’s Gold: really random choice, I minorly applaud the risk though. It’s nothing special but cute enough. Probably will struggle so good luck!

 

Door: this song has a really gorgeous feel, Caroline’s voice and music in general has this quite magical quality and this might just be her best. I’ve actually never noticed the length on this track until someone mentioned it just now, and I guess that speaks volumes about the journey it takes me on.

 

Goodies: it’s a classic, no doubt. That instrumental is so memorable and well, unmistakable  Never was obsessed with this but it’s definitely a cool song. 

Holiday: never heard this. It’s relatively interesting, I like the vibe.

I like the raw and real vocals here… it adds something special to the song… I think the song and the vocal performance by queen carries a lot of personality but i think song goes nowhere because it’s very like one line but gladly is very theatrical and dramatic so it doesn’t make the song that boring or bad but that’s it x very middle on the road for me… it would have been cute if that last part instrumental where more longer and it didn’t lasted three seconds lol

demi lovato - here we go again: absolute classic, she was mega pissed and this still remains fresh and relevant to this day, current girls are studying this formula trying to revive pop rock but they just will never do it like she used to (not even her)

janelle monáe - violet stars happy hunting!: when this started playing the first thing that came to my mind were those super early Gaga demos from back when she went by Stefani Germanotta and had that EP called Red and Blue... truly horrendous  but this got better as it progressed, I ended up not disliking it that much!

billie eilish - my future: it's a very cute song, although it's in the lower half of HTE for me and I used to not really care for it when it came out, it has grown on me quite a bit!

dido - here with me: oh this is actually quite a classic, it's a very lovely song and I really like it, my mom used to have this in her playlist when I was younger ddd

doja cat - kiss me more (feat. sza):  a modern day classic, this song is just SOOO infectious it's crazy, I actually didn't like this the first time I heard it but it truly grew into one of my favorite songs from last year, they ate down
