the writing for this is soooo so bad and underdeveloped 

 

like an actual relationship between lily rose and jennie could have been written so their imminent fallout could carry some damn emotion

 

troye all of a sudden getting a halfassed storyline to justify his abuse???

 

tetros is a bad joke, abel cannot act

 

there could have been flashbacks or more context to joslene's relationship with her mother, but all we get is tragic references that lack emotion because why should we care?! definition of telling and not showing

 

also joslene barely feels like a celebrity...sorry, but someone on her supposed level would just not have all of this free reign/lack of responsibility, even if she's busy recording. the whole things lacks art and heart, it just comes off as a self-indulgent six ep test run 

 

nepotism RUINS art. this show makes this exceedingly clear

In this series, even the star undercoat is raw. It has been mentioned that Jocelyn became a star at the age of 11 by singing in a mall. And she only has two studio albums in 10 years of her career, considering that she has super primitive music. I don’t understand how she became the “most important star of the generation”, as she is presented. The puzzle didn't work out.

Obviously, the show’s getting cancelled. They had a whole Volume 1 soundtrack album ready to roll and yet they chose to release individual EPs instead, out of nowhere 

This was just a sick and twisted vanity project for Abel. Truly sad when you think they originally had an interesting concept but some fragile men turned it into a perverted on-screen fantasy.

the irony of abel trying to come off as homophobic yet having more sexual tension in his scenes with troye and jocelyn's ex is a kii. someone on twitter said it best, abel made this show to basically **** lily. the hyper sexualization of her on this show is extremely uncomfortable.

he is not a good actor. that is a fact. the uncomfortability comes from the fact that we know sam and him pushed for the show to be so exploitative and it's jarring to see how comfortable he is with that on screen because of so.

There is something great here. You can tell there was something really interesting being put together regarding a pop star and her life...something that tv hasn't had..but they ruined it with this weird side story with the weeknds character. He and sam came in and ruined a potentially great show.

 

Ill finish watching it but if they do a season 2, they need a writers room and the weeknd needs to take a step back.

this needs to end with the weeknd dying and joce's becoming a superstar out of sympathy payola for it but the twist being she killed him and becoming a shadow of her mother in the end. i agree though that's what makes watching this so infuriating because they could've easily had such a great show but what we got with a hbo after dark special with famous people.

the timeline is all over the place. this show could've easily been a trilogy. joce starting out a teen idol star with a show her bubblegum debut while being abused by her ill mother should've been the plot of the first season. the contrast of her good girl image and the darkness that she was living behind the scenes ending with her mom passing and joce's breakdown would've been a great arc. the second season could be what we're getting now. the comeback, good girl gone bad era. dates bad boy. her downfall and spiral etc. instead of tedros being some weird pimp it would've been much better commentary to have him be an obsessed stan that infiltrates her life.

while lily is obviously consenting to the nudity and sexual explicit scenes the fact that it's just her that's being mostly showcased like this for a majority of her screentime makes me super uncomfortable. like their is no need for her naked body to be so predominant gratuitous on screen like that. it's feel very *****graphic

I wonder what the original cut of the show looked like. Anne Heche and Elizabeth Berkley were cut from the show. I'm assuming Anne would've played her mother.

i predict the show will end with her reclaiming her career and snapping - eating the **** up with all the hot new music that they made and then her label killing him, 

Dyanne also flopping hard like the leach that she is/ what she deserves. 

 

and Jocelyn looking like the best damn ***** in LA once more, while smoking and dissociating. close-up. credits. applause.

I lowkey defended this mess after the first episode but it has gotten WORSE over the course of this series. Literally, how could The Weeknd come up with such a SHITTY concept and got people to actually finance this dip sh1t show?????

Nothing makes sense and I’m sure HBO cut up the episodes to make the “season” shorter and now everything is even WORSE.

 

And I’m sure the original series was probably good enough if these porn addicts hadn’t decide to change everything. The Weeknd should pay for this, and I mean in a bad way!!!! I need him to flop miserably next era

I’m pretty sure the show was re-edited after its premiere. Nothing makes sense and you can tell some stuff got jumped like where the **** did all those people living in the house came from?  

 

HBO probably made them cut so many things (thank GOD) and made it 5 episodes only to end this ******* torture.

The beneficiaries of the "nepotism"/"fragile men" are the ones who came up with the concept to begin with. The entire show originated with them. They didn't "ruin" it, they delivered it exactly as they envisioned it. Every version of the show would still have felt like...this.
