camfuckingrockwell Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Poor Lizzo, she’s going to go home empty handed this time around .
Almodusa Posted September 30, 2022 Author Posted September 30, 2022 Today’s the last day of eligibility!
KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Will this thread also be used for final predictions / submissions?

Beyonce should submit like this: RENAISSANCE — AOTY, Best Progressive R&B Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical Break My Soul — Best Pop Solo Perf, ROTY, SOTY Be Alive — BSWFVM, Best R&B Song, & SOTY Church Girl — Best Melodic Rap Perf Cuff It — Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song Make Me Say It Again — Best Traditional R&B Perf. Move — Best Pop Duo/Group Perf Pure/Honey — Best Dance/Electronic Recording SR — Best Dance/Electronic Recording After removing the visual aspects .... This list is what I'm thinking too. My only additions/modifications would be: - Surround Sound Album (it was just released in Dolby-Atmos quality yesterday. The timing right before the cut-off was uncanny.) - Album Packaging - Best R&B Song (Plastic Off The Sofa instead of Be Alive. Cuff It stays as the other submission because of the Sheila E / Nile Rodgers / Raphael Saadiq contributions ALONE.)
trainsskyscrapers Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Other than Beyoncé, this is what I'm rooting for this year: I'm really hoping that Ravyn Lenae's HYPNOS can sneak into Progressive R&B Album. That's a quality project. I'm also hoping that Carrie Underwood "Ghost Story" and anything Kane Brown make it into the Country field. It's crazy that he's never received a nomination before, and Carrie's single is in the same vein for me as Blown Away & Something In The Water. Definitely thought "Low" was a missed opportunity in the country vocal categories her last go-round. Also rooting for Jazmine Sullivan's version of "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child" from "VEGAS" in the R&B categories. Last, I would love to see Steve Lacy, WILLOW (Meet Me At Our Spot (Live)), and Ari Lennox (Pressure) nominated for anything.
keatonzee Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 I think MMAOS (Live) might get nominated because pop duo/group is weak tbh

I think Ari Lennox released too soon !!
camfuckingrockwell Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 We should expect submissions around the middle of October. First-Round voting starts on Oct 13. FYC’s should roll out around before too !
Almodusa Posted October 6, 2022 Author Posted October 6, 2022 Best Song for Social Change - Special Merit Award Submission deadline: October 14 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA - The Award recognizes a song that has had profound social influence and impact. - Submissions should contain lyrical content that: a) addresses a timely social issue; b) explores a subject impacting a community of people in need; and c) promotes awareness, raises consciousness, and builds empathy. - The Award is given to the songwriter(s). - The Award honors singles or tracks only, in any musical genre. - The song must include melody and lyrics. - The song must have been commercially released within the last five GRAMMY eligibility years. - The song may reference previous work and may include previously recorded or published lyrical material; in addition, a significant degree of new creative and lyrical content is required. The songwriters of the new material are eligible to receive the Award; determination of songwriter eligibility for previously recorded or published lyrical work will be at the discretion of the Academy. - Recordings featuring samples or interpolations are eligible; however, in alignment with GRAMMY Awards rules, songwriters of sampled or interpolated material are not eligible to receive the Award. (A sample is defined as an element of a previously-released recording incorporated into a new recording. Samples can be entire parts of earlier recordings or isolated sections of earlier recordings including, but not limited to, tracks with vocals removed, hooks, riffs, basslines, or background vocals). SELECTION CRITERIA - Selection criteria include the lyrical content of the song, the artistic quality of the composition, and the perceived impact of the song in delivering an empowering message that brings awareness about social issues that affect the world. - The criteria to select Best Song for Social Change will be guided by the principle that social good is “an action that will result in a benefit being available to the general public”, which may include songs that affirm the basic humanity of all people. - In this context, the new Award will recognize a song that promotes: ~ Understanding - educates and /or raises awareness of other people’s experiences, advocacy, and tolerance. ~ Peacebuilding - measures intended to create or sustain peace or freedom from dissention. ~ Empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. ~ Being Positive - a good, affirmative, or constructive quality or attribute. In contrast, songs containing hate speech or advocating violence or terrorism would be deemed ineligible.

KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 The way About Damn Time deserves SOTY the most. I need to see Lizzo accept song of the mf year at the grammy stage to make all these conservative preachers SEETHE! Also it was genuinly one of the most quality and enjoyable pop songs of the year and in recent memoir tbh
storminthedark Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 If anyone was predicting Red TV/All Too Well 10 then the LA Times said this: Quote But when asked, the Academy declined to tell The Times if the blend of new and old material in “All Too Well” makes it eligible for song or record of the year. They also said Drake's rep didn't respond to if he submitted Honestly, Nevermind or not.

Guess we’ll find out next week when ballots are available for voters (though it’s been trickier now that the Academy is more strict on voters revealing submissions).
KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Drake shouldnt even bother ever submitting again. There is no good music left in drake. From 2018-2022 all of his music was trash

FYC campaigns will probably be the main way we’ll know, although in recent years a lot of them have shifted away from including the categories they submitted to which is frustrating. Maybe Goldderby will have some connections, I guess we’ll see
