Nano Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Very cool story. I'm sure this will make the US side with the terrorists at Hamas instead of the liberal Israel.

You wish. Maybe you should be simping for China more, at least they actually have a chance to win the war they're fighting.
Negev Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 The lack of historical accuracy is unbelievable, no wonder people resort to defending Hamas and terrorism. "apartheid! occupation!" Weird how people in 2022 question the legitimacy of a country recognized by the UN in 1948, while throwing around the buzzword "zionist" like it isn't intended to be classist and racist. Even weirder how they suggest Israelis are "European" given that over 54.4% of second generation Israelis are of several ASIAN heritages- Moroccan, Persian, Iraqi, Turkish, Lebanese, Syrian etc. My mother was born in Syria to Jewish-Syrian parents who had to escape being prosecuted for their religious beliefs the 60s.
A Bomb Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Not the zionists running in here to spread their propaganda. Sooner rather than later supporting Israel will be unthinkable for a Democrat. What a garbage right wing government Israel has.
manwhore Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 (edited) Isn’t that country predominately a trump loving cesspool of hateful right wing bigots though? Not much of a Fan of mummy Joe but i could care less about what they think as a collective. ( not the individuals, the vile trashy ones that support the far right agenda in that country) Edited July 14, 2022 by manwhore

Im sorry your parents fled. Being persecuted and chased out of your own country is awful, ain't it.

Leading international figures – including former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, and former Israeli Attorney General Michael Ben-Yair – have also all described Israel’s occupation, as apartheid. “For more than 40 years, the UN Security Council and General Assembly have stated in hundreds of resolutions that Israel’s annexation of occupied territory is unlawful, its construction of hundreds of Jewish settlements are illegal, and its denial of Palestinian self-determination breaches international law”. Apartheid is not, sadly, a phenomenon confined to the history books on southern Africa - UN rights expert Michael Lynk Quote SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS Laws Violated: Israel has violated 28 resolutions of the United Nations Security Council Weird how, indeed.

The way their go to defense is "Anti-zionism is antisemitism" and then when progressive Israelis go "no, our government is an apartheid state" they go "oh well? who cares" Not even hiding their goals of expulsion. No difference between them and apartheid-era Afrikaners at this point. 20 minutes ago, ZIVERT said: That’ll show him! Hmmm something tells me "standing up to genocidal figures is pointless if they're too powerful" isn't a view you normally hold or apply to all. I wonder why you reserve such to Palestinians and don't tell others to just give up. I think I know why.
ProudLBS Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Ramallah and Bethlehem? Who the hell will see that? Palestinians and a bunch of Christian tourists?

Don’t be disingenuous. No one is questioning Israel’s legitimacy or right to exist as a country. People are simply calling Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and its treatment of Palestinians there for what it is: APARTHEID. Except for Iraqi and Persian Jews, all the other groups you mentioned are Sephardim with origins in Spain. Just because Israel groups Sephardim and Mizrahim together to make its population seem more Middle Eastern, doesn’t make it true. Majority of Israelis are European Jews (either Ashkenazim or Sephardim), actual Middle Eastern Jews (Mizrahim) are a minority.

The amount of ignorance mixed with identity politics Jews didn’t just pop up in Spain, Russia, Iraq, whatever. (With a few exceptions) they’re all indigenous to what is now Israel. You know who isn’t indigenous to the region? Arabs. Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, etc, are more cultural labels than anything. Genetically they’re pretty much the same thing, and the few differences between them are the result of the exile. Jews from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, etc, aka Mizrahim are NOT from Spain. Yes, those communities absorbed some Jews from Iberia and some of them follow Sephardi traditions, but the Jews that were absorbed into those communities were a tiny minority. And Sephardim aren’t really from Iberia either of course.

And before the British, it was Ottoman territory and considered part of greater Syria. And before that it was Byzantine and Roman territory. And before the Romans kicked the Jews out or forcibly converted them to Christianity, it was a majority-Jewish territory. Arab Palestinian nationalism as you know it literally only started being a thing decades ago.
