Dems Continue Funding of Trump-backed Republican

It’s not clear if Democrats will spend money to amplify the attack on TV like they have in other races across the country. Officials at the state party did not respond to requests for comment, and outside groups like the Democratic Governors Association have yet to spend money that way. But the missive signals how aggressively the party is engaging in GOP primaries this year. In next week’s GOP primary for governor in Maryland, for example, the Democratic Governors Association has outspent term-limited Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s preferred successor with messaging that could boost another Trump-backed candidate.

Where is the funding for local elections in states where abortion rights are in danger?

Lmao, they are doing this because she would be an easy candidate to go against in November. Also, don’t generalize the Dems, because there are some decent ones out there.

But not all Democrats are aligned on the strategy, and some acknowledge Mayer’s concern as valid — that elevating fringe candidates could undercut their argument about the mortal threat these Republicans pose to democracy.

Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, a Democrat who went viral on social media and gained a national following after she framed Republican colleagues as hateful and extreme on cultural issues such as LGBTQ rights, told NBC News she didn’t think her party should seek to elevate Republicans they see as less electable in the fall.

You would think this disaster of a political party would have learned their lesson after propping up Trump, but nope :rip: if this backfired, it’d be well deserved :cm:

Yes, because we clearly have no evidence or literal elections of this strategy back-firing. :clown:

She gets the nom then what? The gay, and trans panic that right wing media has fixated on for almost a year just goes away, and the Dem candidate wins?

Gay Republicans are being called groomers ( :deadbanana4:), but somehow this bigot a liability to her party in a general election? What!

Democrats, who purport to care about marginalized groups, are willing to gamble with our livelihoods in order to increase their chances of winning elections, which has already been proven to backfire. :rip: This strategy also rewards the extreme far right by showing that, actually yes, being as fascist as possible is the way to win the nomination as a Republican nowadays.

Extremely braindead of Dems to do that considering that that's LITERALLY HOW TRUMP WAS ELECTED, but wbk that they're not smart.
