regarding the fact that Ariel is a black woman, I don't care tbh but factually it doesn't really make sense since she's from Denmark

She's a fictitious mermaid from the ocean. :rip:

Atlantica was set in Denmark. I don’t make the rules but the rewriting of a tale just to appear woke instead of adapting and giving the spotlight to Black tales is always a big question!

Atlantica is a fantasy kingdom in the ocean. You seriously need to get a grip.

That's usually when they test screen movies though? So they have time for editing and reshooting parts that are not well received.

they never specify the setting in the movieΒ

Β

it’s a Danish fairytale about a fictional mermaid. it can be adapted and changed however it needs to be to update it but ariel isn’t β€œfrom denmark”

you guys would be singing a different song if this was a story from africa or asia (for example) in an "unspecified location" with a european set as a lead lol

Β

but anyway.. the best news is that the animals aren't going to being to realistic looking. hopefully it that doesnt change :duca:

The story is going to stay true to the anime so if you loved that movie, you’ll love this one too!Β
They said they signed an NDA, but fear not, Ive heard that we might get a teaser in September. The teaser will slay but Im sure you’ll find something to complain aboutΒ

you must be living under a rock because Hollywood has been doing this forever. The amount of movies that have been white washed is literally insane :deadbanana4:Β Im pretty sure there are lists on Wikipedia. But god forbid, we change a fantasy creature β€œrace” from white to black

I’m confused. Why are some saying Ariel is from Denmark? I thought she’s from under the sea.Β
