Gui Blackout Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) Is it possible for satire comedy movies like the ones from the Scary Movie franchise be released today, or would it be canceled for being "problematic"? Edited July 5, 2022 by Gui Blackout
ProudLBS Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Not at all, a lot of the humor would be seen as problematic nowadays movies like Borat and Brüno wouldn’t exist either
HauntinglyHollow Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Nope, please these days are p**sies, but damn I miss the crazyness of these movies

umich Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Only 1-3. Queen Brenda (Regina Hall) is a legend and would still be able to put on a show.
UnusualBoy Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No, people have become a bunch of babies and complain about anything, the movies would get dragged till the pits of hell.
Squall Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No, people in 2022 would realize how unfunny this franchise is.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No cuz cuz people can’t separate good humor films from thier own hypocrisy. Scary Movie 1 & 2 are genuinely funny but wouldn’t be appreciated in this era

konaa Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No, and they shouldn’t. I’d wager anyone complaining about people being babies likely haven’t seen or rewatched Scary Movie outside of racist Brenda compilations either, because a lot of the jokes have aged poorly. There’s so much gross transphobia in them.
305 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Probably not which is a shame because those movies are genuinely funny This **** is hilarious
Beyonnaise Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 I think Gen Z is less sensitive than the terminally online "carrd in bio" Twitter types would make us think. I saw clips of the first movie viral recently, namely the one who's in denial about being gay. And obviously Brenda will always be an iconic meme staple.
DoubleRainbow! Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No, they would get canceled on social media. Current generations are so so bitter and unfunny
TheLastChord Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 It could be released and find some successs due to the controversy backlash, but it would never get made. No studio would dare.
Venice B Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 It's been ages since I last saw a movie from this franchise but I just watched the trailer in the op and omg that's so bad I don't remember the movie being this bad
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted July 5, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 5, 2022 Idk but that trailer for SM2 in the OP was so bad Not a single funny joke.
Sharapov Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 nope and its sad cause cindy and esp. brenda are the funniest characters in the history of film
DoubleRainbow! Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 No, they would get canceled on social media. Current generations are so so bitter and unfunny

XAMJ Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 People are 'sensitive' is a way of saying, i cant be racist or sexist
BOOMBAYAH Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 I don’t think they would do well, but not because of the humour, that structure of film is just dated. I don’t get people in here acting like politically incorrect/dark humour is over when there’s millions of different communities and platforms dedicated to just that. Hell even Netflix endorses a Dave Chappelle + his shows still are enjoyed by millions.

Totami Legend Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 The over dramatics in this thread y'all need a rewatch cause nothing was problematic in those movies
