You don’t see men going to battle like they did 200 years ago. It’s mostly air strikes, tanks, and other machines. Wars are won by supplies, money and espionage. They under no circumstances want to join the PRC. Hong Kong was given to them. But Taiwan is its own separate country. Taiwan is one of the most important allies to the US and the West because of this. That's why the US has so many military vessels in the straits of Taiwan, and has shown force when Taiwan was threatened. So yes, the US will risk war.
