Lover Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 from NME The song that makes me want to dance Quote “I think of Madonna like Marlene Dietrich: like Marlene, nothing will stop her from being a provocative artist. I think the younger generation are rediscovering her.” Quote I’ve worked with Madonna and Beyoncé and I see something similar in Doja Cat: she’s just a really, really hard worker. And when you see her on stage, my god she’s a good dancer.” we love hard-working cuties
*-ChriZ-* Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 (edited) Doja definitely has what it takes to continue Madonnas and Beys legacy as an outstanding performer. Shes got room for improvement, but the talent and aura is there. That being said: Both Madonna and Bey have NEVER been whiney and as complaining as Doja. That kind of turns me off when it comes to her attitude. So we'll have to see if she can maintain that type of staying.power. Edited July 2, 2022 by *-ChriZ-*
dabunique Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 As a kitten I do see da similarity between Amala and my b!tch and Beyoncé in her work ethic Doja is sumthin special Patiently waiting to see if she did a remix to a Madonna classic or if she’s on Renaissance
Forevermore. Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 She has the potential to be a great performer, possibly the best out of the current new pop landscape. She has the energy, the work ethic, and the hits to back it up. However, it comes with a big if.. because Doja is very prone to self-sabotage.
alejandreaux Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 She really does have a superstar aura about her. she just gets it - the looks, the music videos, the performances, the ear for hits, etc… maybe comparing her to two of the most beloved and enduring female entertainers of all time is a bit of a stretch, but she kind of is the it girl right now
Blue Monday Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 She is genuinely the most well rounded of the new girls, plus she has the work ethic. I do think she's due for a break though, it sounds like she's exhausted
Bey Admired Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Yeah… no. I can’t see her being around much longer. Bey and Madonna are legendary game-changers, revolutionaries, geniuses, entrepreneurs, and gurus at what they do. Let’s not put Doja Cat in the same sentence as 2 of the most legendary female artists of all time, please. Thank you. Now, if you compared her to Lady Gaga… I could see that.

Bey is the ONLY one to rise to Madonna’s level in terms of album craft in my opinion. I’m not sure if Doja could ever get there but i’d love to see what she can do. I think she fits Janet’s lane too.

M!X Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 I am not sure why people are still under impression that any of these new stars will reach the level of cultural zeitgeist Madonna, Beyonce and their other successful peers have achieved in their time. It's not about the talent or the quality of their output, it's about the fact that music / pop culture consumption has changed so much over the years and its accessibility became both good and the bad thing. People can now stream their long past their prime faves any time their want, nostalgia for older generation is as strong as ever and both them and the newer generation who have never experience the time without internet where everything is available at once are simply not and will never be that invested in celebrities as before, there will always be some new thing at the horizon that as accessible as current popstars. And lets face it Doja's music in particular is nothing groundbreaking to stand the test of time nor does it have to be. I just do not see her, Dua Lipa, Olivia and bunch of other people having legacy that is as close to the pop girls who were best of the best at their peak.

She already is the best performer of the pop landscape, she definitely needs to work on her attitude but the potential to be a legend is there.

professor2000 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Just now, makeme said: They're acting like he called Doja the next queen of pop or something. All he said was "I see something similar" Right. And at this point, multiple ppl have suggested Doja has the most to offer of the new generation. So she’s here to stay, whether they like it or not.
bleuwaffle Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 i personally can't stand doja and find her very corny but yeah i've been genuinely blown away by how tight her choreo is when she's performing.
