Boniqua Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Quote Wish a powerful group of female artists used this moment in our country to form a national walk out/strike. I truly feel like **** would change if women started boycotting the very places that benefit financially from this evil legislature...companies would crumble! Republicans always complain about how "The Left" are in bed with Hollywood. Yeah, cuz artists are people who are empathic toward the common man. Many of them started out poor or with little resources. Art is what reunites us all in the end, anyways; the stories we tell through music, film, etc. is what truly moves us as a species. Republicans know that, which is why they demonize it so much. They know the power it holds over people. We care about the greater good of humanity in a way that most people can't understand. We wear our hearts on our sleeve. People like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Selena Gomez...could change the narrative. It would take incredible organization but they have the love & admiration of millions of women. If enough of us all just said "**** this," things could change. We just aren't mobilizing in the ways we should. Instead we rely on old white men to tell us to vote (which, of course, is only part of the equation). We need to do more than that. ❤️??? Her sister AJ later co-signed with a repost. Will these empathic, heroic artists and Michalka-crowned Trinity of Women answer the Cow Belles' call for the greater good of humanity? The common man is depending on them.
Protocol Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 If this results in more streams for "Am I Alright" then I'm ok with this. Go off girls. Drag them! And stream "Am I Alright".
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted July 1, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 1, 2022 Powerful queens indeed
XIAN Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 good luck with the strike if anything, they need to organize with actual unions who know what they're doing not just celebs asking their fans to strike like are these female celebs going to fund the mutual aid needed to strike?

Literally this. These stars are all so disconnected from the average American worker’s experience they will absolutely fail at any attempts to organize this. It will not be led by rich (petite) bourgeois women who haven’t engaged in any real movement based politics outside of superficial “artistic” expressions, performative social media based activism, and tax write off charity/NGO donations. These women can point the public to actual organizers but I highly doubt it since they stand too much to lose if the American public actually realizes their collective strength and inducing systemic change. All theyre going to do is become mouthpieces for “progressive” electoral politics and AOC stans.
Achilles. Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 We need fewer celebrity spokespeople distracting from actual activists and advocates, actually.

And how activists and advocates are going to have a bigger platform than these ladies? Celebrities should do like Selena did with BLM, let other people use her profile to spread the word to a wider audience.
Bosque Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 None of these artists is going to do anything about it
lenchen. Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Why are Americans so obsessed with celebrities being political activists? They are all literal multi millionaires who are profiting from the system we’re currently living in why would they want to fundamentally change it? And why would you want to listen to them? I don’t know how common strikes are in the US but in other countries they are organized by working class people, unions and labour organizations aka people who actually know what is happening on the ground and have experience in leading strikes, walk outs etc.
BGKC Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Bey already did her thing by telling the girls to stop working for exploitive end stage capitalists and to look for a higher self.
brainmaniac Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 As if they would listen to her. Do they even know who she is? 8 hours ago, lenchen. said: Why are Americans so obsessed with celebrities being political activists? If something like this were to happen, it wouldn’t be because Taylor, Selena, and Beyoncé said so
